My advice is to sit with your wiring diagram and open MS paint on your computer. Draw boxes for all the componants.
Now draw in the wiring using the line tool, in colour, in a way that makes sense to you. Do them one circuit at a time. You will find there is usually a certain logic to the colouring. For example the earths will all be the same colour. Power from the ignition switch will be the same colour. Beam will be white, dip will be yellow etc. etc.
Some of the switches don't work as you would expect. For example, most horns are live all the time with the switch on the earth side of the circuit. The live wire goes into the horn, then out of it, up to the switch and then to earth. Pressing the switch earths the current. I have no idea why they do this, seems counter-intuative.
I'll give you an example with a couple of circuits (not necessarily how it works on your bike) once you start, you can build it up quite easily into a full schematic: ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
