Ive been saving up now for my NSR 125 for a month now, doing quite well, so i decided to get a couple of quotes for NSR's from bennets.

My first one was £250.00 per year. (need to get a quote from others to see whats cheapest)

Out of curiosity because I seen a couple of RS125's and a few folk on here seem to like them, i decided to get a quote on one also.

From bennets it was £500.00 Confused sorry but i didnt think there was that much difference in power between them.

I know when i did the quote for the Aprilia i put it down as a RR.

Anyone know whats going on? and if you can give me a list of good insurers that would be good so i can start getting some other quotes. Thumbs Up

Rich.

Probably because parts are harder/take longer to source from Italy.

I think this is because the average NSR riders differs some what from the average RS rider, and the Insurance company have to assume you are that average person. RS rider's typically go for the RS over the NSR because they want the fastest 125 available, and arent bothered about reliability...not good in the eyes of Mr insurance broker. That's the way it seems to be I'm afraid, the insurance company don't know you, and can only try to put you into a best fit box.

For this reason, when I was 18 I purchased a 1.8TD mondeo (old mans car) as the insurance is much cheaper than it would be for a 1.0 Nova (boy racers car with a barry boys spoiler).

Thumbs Up

Mine costs £800 to insure my rs 125... Mine does accelarte alot quicker than my mates NSR but to be honest I think thats just because hes not good at doing proper starts. Top speed seems to be pretty simular, Well fun slip streaming with 125s on a A road going flat out.

But I think the real reason why insurance is higher is because its a race bike put on the road, where as the NSR isnt considered so much as a race bike.

cheers for the insight folks.

Im probably still just gonna stick with the NSR. insurance is quite steep. and it probably wont break down as much.

Ill just have to wait untill my bursary comes in! not long to go! Laughing

Not really. It's a little faster, but if you were to try racing a stock one you'd just get p*ssed all over.

I'd still go for an NSR over the RS. Cheaper to maintain, cheaper insurance, generally cheaper parts, at the expense of a few mph on top-end. But each to their own.
