 |
|
I took my bike for its MOT today and it passed OK, but the guy said that the throttle is very sticky, as in, when you rev it and then let go, it doesnt go back to the close position, it revs higher or just keeps the revs on and it isnt smooth when i use it either, feels rough, he told me what to do to make it smoother, but i forgot already does any one on here know how i can fix it, he said to lubricate something? cheers |

Take the throttle tube off the bar and clean the sticky muck out of the tube and off the bar. After that, use 3 in 1 spray lube, Handy oil or similar when you put the tube back on, between the bar and the tube. Tightening the return spring (twisting it round an extra turn at the bottom if possible) would also help, as would oiling the throttle cables. Ideally, if you hold the outer and lift the inner vertically above it and drop it, it should just slide through the outer as a result of it's weight, with no force needed. That is in an ideal world of course. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Remove your throttle cables and do the following....
Get a small plactic bag and cable tie it tight to the throttle cable, then fill with WD40, this will then seap down into the cable sleeve and lube the inside.
The opening where the cable goes into the sleeve is too small to spray directly into, this way works really well.
Have a look at my technical diagram I spent ages on it so dont laugh!
