Think there is better 125's out there, and a 125 should be bought for its purpose, not because how it looks.

Eg a Honda CG for reliable transport or a mito or nsr for speed etc

I had a Planet which is basically the same bike, i.e. an unfaired, restyled Mito. I thought it was a great 125 - though not entirely legal as it was unrestricted. It has very distinctive looks and handles brilliantly, having somewhat over-specified suspension for a bike of its power.

However I found getting parts was a complete nightmare - I had to go to a breakers in the end because the proper parts were on perpetual back order. That was in 2003 though so the situation may have changed now.

If you want a 'safe' bike (i.e. won't go wrong, easy to maintain) then it's a bad choice. If you want a nippy, agile, distinctive 125 then it's a pretty good choice.

I think they are good looking machines, but I think it's more to do with the high spec italian components.
Marzocchi forks, Brembo brakes, etc.

They are fantastic 125's. Thumbs Up

Parts are no longer an issue since "Mito Mondo" has been around. Next day for 99% of the parts.

Nice bikes, would rather have one than the mito as they're just as fast but with less things to destroy.

I had a planet at 17, was a nice bike to look at and ride, but a piece of shit in terms of reliability.

If you´re after something stylish, then the derbi gpr seems to be the flashiest 125 out there:

other than that, the yamaha dt125 supermoto version is cool Thumbs Up

The planet is a good bike, but it's a bitch to work on. Every bolt on it is rubber mounted, so i'm taking to fibreglassing stainless steel nuts on to the back of every body pannel which requires them. Click the link in my sig for my bikepics page. I've still to jack up the rear end with the adjustable shock.

only reason ive still got mine is i like the look of it and its a fun bike to ride oh and its cheap to run compared to my bandit Wink
