I;d been out for an 80 mile blast throught the gorgeous Welsh mountains around Brecon today, got back home tired but satisfied. I was poodling through our little village doing 35 mph - I save my speedfreak moments for the open road and have no tolerance for idiots who zoom through built up areas. (god I sound like an old duffer myself there hehe).

I've got a 2002 J2 ZX6 with a seriously sex and loud Art can. Anyway Im bumbling along at 35 when this old git, farmer type (complete with cloth cap) who is cycling in the opposite direction starts waving his hand at me in a 'slow down' gesture.

I was fucking fuming, I zoomed around the block and came back to find him. I was going to tell him not to wave his fucking arms at me as I was only doing 35 and to get his fucking facts right before coming the fucking concerned citizen.

What made me so mad was the look on his face which said - bloody hooligan bikers, speeding around the village.

Its these twats who reinforce the stereotype.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately I couldnt find the old twat, and I spen 10 mins going around and around the village.

Sorry, I'm not at all a 'road rage' merchant usually.

Just had to get that off my chest - cheers Very Happy Very Happy

1)maybe his keep it down hand gesture was more about your noisy can than the speed you were going at

2)or maybe he thought you were going fast cos of the loud noise

but i think it was the first.

I had a similar thing last weekend - some old bloke looking angry and waving for me to slow down. I was going the speed limit as well.

So I waved back.

Hi might of just been saying keep it slow as there is a danger up ahead, but since you never caught up with him we will never know Rolling Eyes

This really gets to me when people do it.

I get it often, I'm on a bog standard 33bhp GPZ500s, I do keep to the limits as I need my license.

when some old gimmer gives me the slow down signal and angry look on his face he can expect to get the finger...or even both for his efforts.

Some goon was hooning up and down the road today on the slowest minimoto I've ever seen, looked new but was hardly moving, he was weaving in and out of traffic, I heard sirens, he was holding an ambulance up... Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad Thumbs Down

god I hate coventry with such a passion

We all get called hooligans at the bike meet by old farts falling out of the pub and getting in their cars. Apparently it's something to do with the way we are dressed Rolling Eyes They say they are going to tell the council what we are doing and get the meet stopped...the council know, they have given us permission to use their land Laughing I hate the attitude that ignorant people have about bikers in general. Mad

Maybe he knew something you didnt?

Bet it didnt occur to you to take a long hard look ahead of yourself at this point did it?

When he waved his arm at you - i suppose you automatically thought "Ugh god what an idiot, just another twat thinking bikers are idiots, im just gona ignore him, the twat". Which in turn - actually builds this perception that bikers are twats, because you come here abusing some poor old guy. So for all you know, he could just have a very slow wave... but now youve gone and posted here about what a twat he was blah blah blah.

Maybe he has a hearing aid? And your cans hurt his ears? Maybe you should look at getting a legal can -eh?

And what about my first point...

Say this guy had just walked past a dead animal in the road? Or a car reversing out of the driveway that you couldnt see? Maybe an oil spill or a realy slick patch ahead of you? You know - Something that could cause you trouble, but you cant see yet, or may not have noticed? Bet you didnt think to look did you?

Maybe next time you see someone waving, you wont automatically think "What a twat, dont look or point at me or my bike, your worthless", but maybe think "Ok shit why is he waving?" and check your surroundings.

Hell your ass end could be on fire and you hadnt noticed yet...

Poor guy, i feel for him not you Thumbs Up

The bloke was being a stuck up cunt and lording it. Im a 30 year old bloke with a responsible job and hair on my chest - I do not like being treated like some fucking 14yr old kid. The bastard old fucker deserved a gobfull.

(about the can - yeh I probably should get a legal one, but the fact is I just love the bloody thing - you should hear it - sexy as fuck Very Happy )

Well yesterday when Dodsi and I were on on a brisk ride, a guy in a lorry did the slow down gesture while flashing his lights. We were going about 80 in an unrestricted, and sure enough up ahead lay mounds of cow shit all over the road.

Don't know about dodsi, but that lorry driver saved my life and my bike.

There's a daft bitch on the way in to where I used to live who gave me plenty of laughs on the way home. Go past her house at 25mph in first gear, and she'd run out screaming at me to slow down, go past at 40 in 4th, and she wouldn't bat an eyelid! Rolling Eyes

Thick old woman! I used to laugh all the way down the street, and make a point of passing her house revving the tits off it so she'd think I was speeding, and come running! Well, I suppose the exercise was keeping her fit! Wink

Laughing Laughing They seem to have a problem round here telling the difference between bike engines and car engines. There have been complaints to the police about the noise and when the police come down to check out what's going on it's boy racers in their souped up metros Laughing
