 |
|
Im getting pretty sick of cars driving very close up my arse, At first I thought it was because my mirrors some how magnified the car, but I look over my should, and sure enough theres a car 1ft away from my rear end!
I stick to the speed limits in built up areas as I dont fancey killing a small child who decides to jump in the road from inbetween parked cars, but I normally tend to speed up a bit if theres a car behind me.
Is there a "denfencive" way of protecting your rear end, as Im sure that if I have to do an emergancie stop, or even let of the throttle for a bit, that a car is goning to rear end me, like a car did to me at a roundabout a couple of weeks ago..
I could just give the finger, I normally look over my shoulder then shake my head but this dosnt seem to work, Ive tried slowing down more but this makes them more determend to stick to my rear wheel. I tried speeding up for a couple of secs and then getting back to normal speed limit which works occasionally, but somtimes it just ends up making it more dangours as the car behind me thinks ive decided to become a dangerous rider and the car dosnt expect me to slow down again..
What do you do? |

I usually just flash my brake light at them.
or indicate for them to overtake then kick their wing mirror off |

My O/H gives me a tap and i moonie at the driver!
This usually results in them pulling back a little lol
:EDIT: Only recommended at lower speeds!
Thought it was only objects in the REAR veiw mirror that seem bigger than they really are! ____________________ Funny, I used to hate being spanked as a child!

It never really bothers me. Just remeber they are in the wrong and your in the right if they happen to clip your rear wheel.
Keep cool and concentrate on the road ahead. ____________________ CG125|CB400SF|CBR600FX|Triumph Daytona T595|CBR929RR |

FWIW I did think of taking a chance with the postage and getting one of these and seeing if I could put in a message like 'Back Off'. Attached to back of jacket or maybe the bike.

Best bet is just to stand your ground. Stick to the speed limit. I find the occasional dab of the brake helps a bit as well.

I just let them follow me, touch the rear brake from time to time for no reason at all but to put the light on at the back (that pisses them off because they think you're a real t**t).
Then, if they're still behind me when I've got a clear, open road, I open up the throttle and leave them eating dust
I hate those t***s who drive cars like that They really think they're something, don't they ?

Slam on the brakes for a second or so. If they hit you its their fault for driving too close.
Hate it when people are up your arse. |

I have this when Im in my car, and the one time It had me scratching my head was when I was driving a friends Nissan Skyline R32GTR.
I was in a 50 zone dual carriage way doing 50 and Mr Family man in his Picasso (hereafter known as silly bus) was sat absolutely on my arse end. For anyone that knows this zone (heading out of Queensferry, for North Wales) it opens to a 70 stretch.
Anyhow, a good heft on the tiller of his silly bus and it veered erratically into the outside lane and started to creep past as the 70 sign was approaching. I looked at him and he was hunched over the steering wheel, staring fixedly ahead and had an expression of absolute determination on his face.
Anyhow, as my car went into the 70 zone, i went from 5th to 3rd and floored it. The car picked up, and absolutely flew off leaving him licking his wounds and holding the rest of the traffic up.
Ive heard of it happening on bikes and people on carb fed biked flicking the kill switch off for a second and then back on to fire a dirty great flame out , although how true it is I dont know... ____________________ 1997 Kawasaki ER 500 A1:- Once again, Its merely crap |

Exactly the reason I have:
'If I want you up my arse I'll kiss you first'
written at the bottom of my numberplate.

Hey, young lady. Even a 125 is quick enough to pull away from your average cager.
I've done this on a CG125 myself I'll have you know
There's now't wrong with a 125 ya' know. Just twist and go
