Right... I've just got a lovely HJC CS12 helmet, which is really comfortable... However... there is one slight problem, if I try using the helmet with the breath guard in it, my specs steam up if I go over 30mph, even with the visor slightly open. With the breath guard taken out, it doesn’t steam up over 30mph, but it does under 20mph!

When I go paintballing they provide a spray to stop glasses steaming up in the masks, will that do the job in this case?

How easy is it to get hold of sprays, where is best to get them, which is the best and how much will they set me back?

Or even better... is there another way to stop me specs steamin?

i have an hjc with breath guard

it took me a while to realise how to use it properly.

when the helmet is on with breath guard in place, you need to press is down on the either side of the bridge of your nose so there are no gaps.

you have to do this each time you put it on, as otherwise breathy air comes up through the gaps either side of your nose onto your glasses

if you are already doing this, get contact lenses

you can also stop ur glasses steaming up or your visor, if you smear washing liquid on the inside of the visor and both sides of the glasses lenses

i can explain how it works if u want but otherwsie i cant be bothered to.

you could have told me earlier ! i could have had an accident or something ! it took me ages to realise that. i thought it just worked without having to press it into place each time.

I've been pressing the guard into place every time, but it's still not brilliant... perhaps it will get better in time.

And I'll give the washing-up liquid thing a go... I've also heard that toothpaste does the same job... also it'll give you minty fresh glasses I suppose!

i dont think toothpaste is a good idea

washing up liquid is more or less clear and is stronger surfactant (makes the water wet the surface rather than create lots of little droplets)

Ahh, fair dues.
Just had a thought... do you ride with the vents open on your helmet, or do you have them closed?

Was just wondering as I've been riding with mine open... and as my glasses steam up when I hit 30mph, I was wondering if it was the airflow going through the vents blowing the warm air I've exhaled up under my glasses... Sound likely?

Should I try with vents shut? (the chin ones that is)
