You can't get a spark without the CDI. You need to wire it up properly.

I get the impression you are trying to bite off more than you can chew with this.

So you have one bike and you are trying to put the engine out of a different one in it right?

What are the two bikes?

I take it you are trying to splice the wiring from the engine into the existing wiring loom of the rolling chassis?

Is the loom intact or are you trying to use bits and pieces from both bikes?

I have done a fair bit of vehicle wiring (I've wired two bikes from scratch) and I have just spent the last hour or so working out how to fit the CDI from one bike onto my current one... and they both have the same engine! It is not an easy undertaking.

Start by buying or downloading a workshop manual with a full wiring diagram for your engine.

Or build your own loom. This is not something someone can tell you how to do on a chat forum, it is a BIG job.

Here is a link to an excellent article covering all the basics of vehicle wiring including how to build a loom from scratch.

Yup, and they are all different colours and in different orders and have a different number of wires, even between two years of the same model. There is no magic formula to this, you need to have a wiring diagram in front of you. If it is a 2-stroke and you are building your own loom, you could use a generic one off a C90 as there is no advance curve, the article tells you how.
