Well, in this thread I mentioned that I was intending reporting some old bint for dangerous driving after she nearly drove me off the road on the Oxford ring road.

Well it turns out that the guy on the phone at TVP was wrong and I can't report it without an independent witness, even just to get a letter sent to her warning her about her driving!

I was a bit pi$$ed off about that, so I went back to my bike to ride home... and completely forgot about the disclock on the bike! Evil or Very Mad

Bike hit the deck and the end result was me at the police station with a snapped caliper bracket. Crying or Very sad

After telling the polis I might be leaving the bike in their carpark overnight, I tested the brakes a few times and they seemed to be working, so I decided to make the 1.5mile 30mph ride home.

Thankfully the brake disc doesn't seem damaged, but I'll be back on the bus for a few days. My bike seems to have had nothing but bad luck since I moved to Oxford. Shame I can't afford a new one atm.

I was in a really good mood earlier as I'd just won an auction for a Starcom unit! Cool

Estimates for a CB500 front caliper bracket from a breaker? I'll try the CB500 club too...

Stupid auld biddy - it's all her fault!

I've heard that punching her in the tits is the preferred method of revenge these days.

Now that you're gainfully employed, how about a nice loan and a new bike? Mr. Green

Would love to if it weren't for the debts etc. I'm paying off. I think maybe next year I'll get a new bike... although I did say that last year. Thinking

I've made the mistake of trying to make a quick get-a-way with the disc lock still on.
Luckily the bike was an over engineered 125 so there wasn't much weight to do any real damage.
My nuts took a pasting off the tank though. Embarassed

For a single caliper? I reckon £15-20 and if you're lucky you'll get some nice fresh brake pads in them for that price. Thumbs Up

Unlucky Major, we've all done it at some point. Sad Just be lucky it didnt hit a car on the way down!!

Honda won't sell the caliper bracket on its own - it only comes with the whole caliper which is £300!

David Silver said that was rubbish, and had a bracket for a T model CB500, but not the R model, which mine is. The R and T models have Nissin brakes while the later models has Brembo brakes. Although Haynes showed that the bracket was identical between R and T, the guy there said they had different part numbers so didn;t think they were the same. The bracket they have was £29, and he said to get the R model one in would be £80!

I have tried partfinder, but have yet to get any calls. Soemone told me a breaker would be reluctant to just sell the bracket as they would arther sell the whole caliper with the bracket, or the forks with the bracket.

Arse!

You might find a pair to punch, somewhere between her hips and knees, if she is one of those who shove cakes down their throats everyday.

I got a call from a breaker today and they had the part I need for £20! Dance!

Just hope it's the right part and I manage to fit it okay. Praying
