Hi all, newbie from Sheffield here

I've been reading this forum for a while now, but didn't want to join the forum until I passed my test (sods law would dictate if I joined before-hand it'd take me 10+ attempts to pass Rolling Eyes).

Got myself a shiny Hornet 600 on Saturday and I'm just waiting for the logbook and insurance certificate to come through so I can sort the tax out and get a slightly more legal numberplate Shifty Police

It's a T reg, 7000 miles, great condition with bellypan etc. and it's killing me seeing it sit there in the garage not being able to be used.

While I have your attention, what's the smallest legal number plate size allowed? It's 7 x 4.5 at the moment but if it goes any wider it'll block out the indicators Sad I've read the reg plate threads on here but none seem to specify an actual width: just letter spacings. Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome,

Very nice bike there, really do like the look of that. take care of her, legends say that yellow is the quickest aswell.

As for plate size I have clue but someone will know the exact legal sizes, plates mind

Mine too, it's in mint condition too. Mind you, I'll be shit scared of binning it the first few times I go out Sad

I've got a mate from Parson's Cross, he lives near some burglar alarm store just before it goes into the dip to go up the hill to those new houses/flats they're building.

Looks like I'll have to sort some sort of compromise out with the number plate: 5cm per letter is too big, and that's without any spacings!

You'd be unlucky to get pulled for that plate, only problems you could have is MOT.

Welcome BTW. Thumbs Up

I'll have to keep an eye out for you NSR Kid, what bike are you on (or is that a daft question)?

It's passed the MOT Jon. I'm still worried about the plate as it has a sort of handwriting style to it aswell. Can you actually get points for a dodgy numberplate?

Edit: I'm just off Markbrook drive
