Right, someone (zim?) mentioned using petrol to clean thier bike with, so being bored this afternoon, I gave it a try Smile It works really well, taking all the oil/ grease/ shit off.

However, am I likely to damage anything by using it to clean it? I'm not leaving it on for any amount of time, and its just a bit on a rag, then wiping it clean. Just not 100% sure that it's a sensible idea

personally i would recommend using something like wd40 to get the grease off in the hard to reach places, its also brilliant for cleaning wheels, *dont* use petrol for your fairings, for them use hot soapy water followed by a bucket of non soapy water followed by some polishing and elbow grease! Once yovue done all that you can use something called autosolve to polish up all your nice shiny metal bits!! Using this method will achieve the best results although me and Kornel normally go on all day bike cleaning missions Smile

I clean mine twice a week Razz

I use Holts Wheel Cleaner on the front wheel, and WD40 followed by the wheel cleaner on the rear.
I use Holts Motorcycle shampoo for all the bodywork, then Holts Motorcycle Wax Polish. Then I do the shiny bits in Holts Chrome and Aluminium Polish.
Then I lube up the chain with Holts non-fling chain lube

It usually takes about 2-3 hours if I bother with the polishing
