Hi,

As I live in Liverpool, none of my family down south know I have a bike...

This worries me, as if I was to be hospitalised then they'd get even more of a shock finding out it was a bike I came off of.

I definately can't tell my mum, for reasons I wouldn't like to go into on a a public forum, but I plan on telling my older brother...

He used to have a couple of crossers, and had an FZR600 about 6 years ago, which he sold when he and his missus got married. But before I got one he said I'd be an idiot to get one...

Any advice?

Toby

Advice!

Your an adult, your quite capable of making your own decisions.

Wink

EDIT: I dont mean that cause your asking the question on here, I mean making the decision about getting a bike. Thumbs Up

To be honest, your not going to stop riding even if they dont like it, are you?

Just tell them and get it over and done with.

Thumbs Up

People like that should be shot dead.

On a lighter note, just send them a greetings card with some skid marks on (not bike ones).

Very Happy Thumbs Up

I had my 125 for about 9 months before I told my parents. I lived about 30 miles away from them and left home years ago. I was still worried when I told them, but my mum said "Oh, that'll be handy around town" and that was all that was said.

I wouldnt like it if any of my kids, kept it from me, but then again them having bikes wouldnt be a problem. Why the big need to keep it from your Mum?

keep it on a need to know basis

dont tell your brother as at some point he may feel like telling your mum

i wdnt go as far as lying, but if you dont need to tell them, dont tell them

having said that, you might be surprised

i eventually told my mum about my rs125 rather than lying about how i was getting to my course placement each day. i thought she would get worried but she didnt. she worries a bit now, but not too bad

I personally would tell everyone

People get killed in cars, crossing the road...
even last week a girl not far from me was squished by a bin lorry as she was just walking along Sad
Very sad affair

All of my family know I have a bike
My brother was almost killed when he was early 20's on a bike. Basically his helmet stuck in his skull.
He was, thankfully, okay in the end..
My family threw a fit !!
he carried on riding though

Fair play

A bike is just another thing in this world that is dangerous

I drink vodka
yum
It's a poison

My sister was devastated to learn that I ride hundreds of miles with my kid on the back of my bike !
Erm...sorry, it is my choice
My kid loves it
Live life !!

Enjoy what you do

Don't die a moth ball gathering dust

My Fiance (as I speak) is out on his Firestorm.
His Mum doesn't give a jot.
Now, not to make her sound horrid..she isn't !
She has 3 sons..all have bikes.
Brother-in-law has three ! And his wife has one too

We all have bikes...she knows that we all love them.
No worry, just happiness that everyone is comfortable and happy with their lifestyle.

If people know the facts, they usually admire the hobby

Answered your own question really.

Tell them all.

Including your mum.
Suffer the ear bashing. It would be worse if she were bashing you from the side of the hospital bed, not having known.

The family dont like me owning one due to me recent crash. However they would never stop me from doing something I enjoy.

If you havnt seen em and live away from them who gives a fook? By the same token if you live local to them and see them every day who gives a fook?

Grow up! Pretty sure if you are saving for DAS you are older than me. Toby, what are they gonna do? Say its not safe? Ooooh, coz you didnt realise that to start with?
