Hi, just after a bit advice really, i'm planning a 2-3 day trip up there at the end of May. Can anyone recommend any B&Bs, preferably with secure parking. Not sure which area is the best to stay in, so far i've been looking around the Windermere area. Also can anyone suggest things to do whilst i'm up there (apart form riding) as i'm probably going up on my own and could do with some ideas to pass the time. cheers in advance for any help. |

I'm at uni in lancaster so devil's bridge is pretty close to me..... but to be honest I've never been there on a friday night. There'll be people there on saturday definately and now the weathers getting nicer and the fair weather boys are back out there'll be a crowd on sundays (as well as a decent burger van that serves nice cups of tea in proper mugs and an ice cream van ).
But watch out for police, apparently they have a big presence there in summer ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |

YHA is very big around there, and you meet nice people doing that as well. Went there years ago and Coniston was really nice. ____________________ Enjoy Life There's Plenty of Time to be Dead

Whole host of things you can do in the lake District.
You can drive around in a queue at 30mph behind a myopic pensioner in a big Jag braking heavily at each corner and when there is oncoming traffic.
You can battle your way through hordes of couples in matching fleeces and Japanese tourists to look around twee villages.
You can pay double the normal price for a cup of tea in a crowded but ever so quaint tearoom.
You can pat three times the market value for a spring-loaded walking pole.
You can follow a caravan over any hill pass you want.
You can go rambling along with the afore-mentioned matching fleece bedecked couples using your new walking poles.
You can be refused entry a whole variety of campsites for an entire range of reasons including (but not exclusively) being a single male, being a group of males, being on a motorbike, driving a van, not being a member or not being a family.
You can't fill up your motorcycle with fuel with your helmet on.
You can't go waterskiing.
My advice. Go to the lakes turn off on the M6... Now keep going straight ahead for another 45 minutes. Turn left and you're in Dumfries and Galloway. Turn right and you're in the Scottish Borders. Camp where you want. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Similar advice to stink to be honest. Take the A6 north and keep going until you reach Scotchland. Enjoy it while you still can before they close the border |
