Taken the rear off, removed the disc, bearings, etc etc, ready for powdercoating.

Was just about to start undoing the front when I thought:
"Hang on, just hang on minute" Mr. Green how am I going to balance the bike? How to simply make it secure? It's on a centre stand (fazer 600). I've never had both wheels off it before and it's got me scrathin' me head like Mr. Green

Have you got a car jack?

When my dad did his TL-R forks he used a jack with a block of wood under the engine to hold it up and it was fine.

Lob some weight on the back seat to counterbalance the front.

I think we used a small person the last time my bike had no wheels and was on its centre stand. Obviously this might not be the best solution if the wheels are going to be off for days...

If u got a garaged you could tie some ropes from the roof of it and put it round the handlebars and rear arm, then you can still ride on it and have lots of fun and not spend petrol!!

Well I've not enough wood to do it and I guess axle stands are easy to get hold of from Halfrauds or Machine Mart in the morning.
How do you position them?

I just use about 2 bricks with a slot of wood across them or just on top of the brick and put them under the front forks.

That way they are supported, and the solid brick doesnt rub against the fork ends and scratch them up.

Failing that if you have a strong roof i have seen pics here of peoply tieing the handlebars up to the roof... Or resting the handlebars on wheely bins lol

Use ur imagination! Thumbs Up Laughing

Next time i'll be getting some scoflding, make a frame and hanging it, the ol' wood balanceing is bloody dodgey buisness..

One thing worth doing (presumeing your useing a centerstand at the same time) useing a ratchet strap on the centerstand, arround the front forks and back to the centerstand, keeps the front from wobbleing and stops the stand folding back up!

Theres also front padock stands that fit under the steering stem, best cause what happens when you need the forks off?!

I use 4 axle stands but I think you could probably get away with 3, in a triangle shape underneath the engine (careful of exhaust) im sure i saw a pic of someone doing it... its somewhere in the workshop section, had a quick skim but cant find it
