I recently removed the carbs from my GSX750E for a clean up. Today I refitted them in (maybe) a complete reversal of the way I took them off. Attached to the carbs are 4 black tubes, one of these is the vacuum pipe, another is the pipe from which the petrol travels from the tank, however that leaves me with a further two black pipes that I don't recall disconnecting from anywhere. Your mission Jim (if you wish to accept it) is to tell me where these go. On closer inspection they don't seem to have any evidence of being connected to anything!
I tried to start the old girl but stopped after noticing fuel pooling under the bike, at one point fuel was dripping from the join in the exhaust where the 4 into 1 'bit' joins the other 'bit'. I'm deparate to get riding this bike and don't want my limited mechanical knowledge to hamper my progress. So come on peeps, tell an old dummy what he's done wrong !!

I'm not familiar with this model - but - the two 'spare' tubes connected to carbs will be either be breathers or overflows, just make sure theyre pointing downwards and route them so they cant drip on anything hot or on your back tyre.

It sounds as if the float valves are not seating, when you took them apart to clean did you keep all the parts for each carb together for reassembly or just mix them up. Have you reinmstalled the floats the correct way up? (on old hondas its possible to put them back the wrong way) Am just guessing really as i said i dont know this bike in particular please check with a manual

Were the carbs leaking before you stripped them?

Finally in view of petrol sloshing onto exhaust or even worse escaping from it! im tempted to say you shouldnt be allowed within a mile of the bike in this state, but we all have to start somewhere, get a manual before attempting any other work, or hire a mechanic or a friend who can show you how to do the job safely. In the meantime you're a danger to yourself and anyone in the vicinity, sorry for the tone, please take it as constructive, in the 30 years ive been around bikes ive lost 5 friends on the road and 2 in the workshop!

As said above...

Are you sure it was dripping from the joint or was it dripping onto the exhaust and running around it and dripping from said joint as it is the lowest point. To get fuel into the exhaust and then dripping out of it means you are filling the barrels with fuel and that is verry unlikely(plus it would hydraulic), also your sump would fill with fuel.

Sounds like you have put the petrol feed pipe in the wrong place and it is pissing out of an overflow running down the engine, dripping on your pipes giving the illusion its coming from the joint.

Check everything again, then when yous sure its right take it outside and try it. FFS don't try to start it with fuel all over it or it will go bang!

Just to reiterate Wink those 2 pipes should be pointing down and away from the bike. Mine are sort of clipped on, poking out through a hole in the fairing.
