My dad got caught by a camera in his car doing 109mph Rolling Eyes in the north of scotland....the letter says he can get 3 points and a max of £1000 fine-or even a possible ban! Rolling Eyes
Has anyone beeen caught at a similar speed and if so, how were you punished?
Thanks in advance

but it says a maximum of 3 points and the grand fine...(although he already has 3 points...)
on a separate part of the letter at the bottom does it say that you may have your license revoked. Confused

im not sure, but i always thought if you got caught over a ton it was pretty serious.
I suppose he could ask for the camera to be checked and calibrated, but this might just cost money and piss the coppers off.
I think only man utd footballers have enough ready cash to risk this strategy.

He's looking at a ban AFAIK. Anything over a ton is a poss ban. (I think it's 30mph over any speed limit).

Hi

Ban is likely for any speed 30mph over the speed limit. Presume the letter they have sent is the one where they are just seeking to get him to incriminate himself. Get onto Pepipoo and someone there might well be able to help.

All the best

Keith

The other day I came back to my car and there was a sign on the window saying "Parking fine", so that was nice.

I suggest him getting a good solicitor for his day in court.

Failing that, a good supplier of anal lube.

that'll teach him for speeding without keeping his eyes peeled for the pigs and their cameras Laughing

Make sure you keep a record of this incident for the time you get nicked for doing something, then you can remind him of the fact and get away with it Smile

Reminds me of the time my old man got caught for speeding in his Land Rover !!! I didn't stop laughing for a week Smile Smile

A ban is a ban regardless of length. So his insurance will still take a hit.

The courts normally set aside specific days to deal with nothing but motoring offences.

It's brilliant the way you can sit in on a session isn't it? One of the better aspects of the brit legal system. Always an advisable thing to do, go and visit, before your own hearing; you'll get a feel for the mood and atmoshpere of the place so can be more relaxed at your own hearing.

The things I noticed most were 1)The magistrates were very ordinary people ... almost regular johhnies (they're unpaid volunteers from your local community), and 2)The prosecutor/ barrister jobbie acting for the CPS can be as anxious as you, they're not always the sharks they're made out to be ... normally having no more than a single paper statement to present their whole case on ...
