Don't know if anyone's heard of this before but I've came across a scheme called "Pipeline Card" which is looking to negotiate fuel discounts for its members. The idea is to build up a large amount of people who will choose to buy their petrol/ diesel from one major forecourt chain in return for a discount; collective bargaining if you like.

They have an agreement in principle with "a major fuel retailer" and hope to negotiate Pipeline Card members a discount of around 5 - 10p / litre. They're looking to launch the card over the next few months but what they need are more members - this will give them more bargaining power and help the scheme work on a national level. Can't see any downside to it myself; it doesn't cost anything to join and all you need to do is register your details online. It won't stop you shopping around but if the scheme takes off and discounts are at the level mentioned then you shouldn't need to buy off anyone else.

Nah, it's about 7 or 8 months old. God knows how many members he wants, it's been the topic of discussion on quite a few major programmes and sites.

They've only had 20,000 new users since February, I think if it ever happens, it will probably be in mid Summer. Perfect for us! Mr. Green

Why do they want everyone to have a card? Surely if the "major retailer" just cuts their prices people will buy from them.

It seems a funny way of going about things to me.

Suppose we'll just have to wait and see what, if anything, comes of it. Does seem a bit too good to be true but, like I say, you've nothing to lose by registering. Thumbs Up

Tried a topic search by the way but server was too busy to allow any.

I joined it ages ago, the guy doing it seems seriously motivated! It will never save you so much you'll be rich, but pennies make pounds as they say.

He is trying to leave it as long as he can so that when he negotiates a final deal and price, he will have bigger numbers to help sway a better deal. Best o0f luck to him and well done for getting off his arse and refusing to just accept the system.

Come the revolution! Thumbs Up

it might have merit , because a place I worked had 6 vans , and used 200 of diesel each week , companies were constantly calling us for fuel cards , if they are willing to call for such a small amount then with 20,000 users it might be worthwhile.
