I've a sort of old injury from a couple months back and I'm just wondering if it might develop into something worse so I'm asking your opinions and advice.

Riding one day in Sommerset , attacking corners with a group I used to ride with I misjudged a corner and saw a lump of horse manure on my line.

not being able to slow fast enough I went up a small embankment , catching my left foot on the grass and having it dig in while still on the foot peg (there was a big clump of soil on my boot). Seconds later I recovered it and thought wow I'm ok , stood up on the pegs checked nothing was broken which it wasn't and rode on.

The only thing was a sharp pain in my left ankle which I could still move and surmised not broken = OK. It hurt like a bugger for a few days and then went away.

Except for a loud clicking sort of noise when I stand on the balls of my left foot and or put my weight on it.

Call me stupid but I never saw a doctor for 3 reasons:

I didn't have a doctor down south

I had so many hours stolen from me from an old boss that I'd never have time to see one at a drop in clinic anyway

It went away after a couple of days

2 months later , I wake up with a dull ache in my ankle and it hurts whenever I put alot of weight on it though my job now requires me to be standing up for hours on end.The clicking is still there but sounds deeper somehow.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

9 months ago before I went away , they had wednesdays off , went out for a ride passed the doctor's clinic and saw people going in and out as I was filtering past a bin lorry, did a quick U turn and popped in.

Oh Oh Shocked Looks like we started an A&E post Laughing

I went with my daughter "Dragonfly" who had an accident and had to wait 6 hours to see a doc, I told her you should have phoned ambulance first, then the sollicitor and then me! Laughing Laughing

Best bet is to get it checked, Hopfully you just strained it when you did it in and nwo the muscle is a bit weak, so it will tend to keep on straining. The bone clicking is a concern lough, Does your ankle look strange? like it might of moved a bit?

It may be clicking for another reason, like a bit of growth or somthing ( but im gessing your out of the growing stage... but I dunno! ) or somthing like that, my big toe clicks all the time and sometimes gets achey, but Ive had this since I was a child, I had it checked but wasnt anything bad so hasnt really botherd me.

But I would make the effort to get it checked, even if it means having a day off. Id rather loose a days pay now than loose months perhaps years pay because it evolved into somthing more serious.

What country are you in?

These days GPs have a 48 hour target to meet for an appointment - ironically this then caused some problems for people who wanted to book appointments further in advance (GPs refusing to book them so as to keep the slots free).

A&E have the disastrous 4 hour target, which means that if you're still there after 3 hours and 50 minutes, you get admitted to hospital and stuck on a ward somewhere, whether you need to be or not.

Now NHS dentists, that's where the big waiting is!

Injured my left ankle/foot, never got it checked out, and for about 3 months i couldnt even change gear Crying or Very sad

Still havent got it checked out, and even now i can just about lift my foot off the ground and just leave the ball down. Makes for some comedy moments trying to go up a gear.

checked it out , just a badly strained tendon , which the doctor too great joy at poking and hurting me , told me to use the van a bit more than the bike cus gear changing might be straining it a bit more.
