I haven't read any of the other replies..too late for me Smile
I am old..

anyway >>

as a kid I got roughed up a tad. I was taught to follow the rules, never hit back, blah blah...
It didn't get much better.
I learnt funny ha-ha as a route out
Make 'em laugh..they fu*k off

I have a kid
A girl (10 yrs in 3 weeks) Smile
Yus..old bird I am, I know..

What I HAVE learnt...
fight back !!

I made sure my kid knew that if someone bothered her, tell someone, if nothing happened... whack the kid back !!
I tell you, if they taunt you and the bullied kid does nothing then it gets worse

I also made sure my girl attended karate from age 5.
A few times every week. She is Dan Grade next year. Amazing achievement.
She could flatten me IF she had to.But she won't have to.
I treat her with respect and love.

Young kids fight and bicker... it starts off physical, and those early days determine where we will end up

Whatever any namby-pamby stuff is spouted

Kids need to be tough.
Your confidence in later life depends on it

I may be going against the grain here, but im not that far out of being a kid myself! Laughing
My dad taught me from a very young age if someone hits you, for whatever reason, you hit em back harder. And ive gone through my life using that. Im not a lary little chav (not most of the time anyway!) and I consider myself to be a friendly alrite person. But if a group of bigger lads set about on me, I go for the biggest one first and hit em as hard as I can and dont stop hitting them until I can see a clear exit to escape. Thats the way I see it, and Ive always stuck up for myself, never really got properly bullied becuase I used to be so quick to retaliate. Which may have got me in a few more bits of trouble, but up until this time last year, when I turned 18, Id go out clubbing, drink stella and get lary. Very fast do you learn your lesson there! Well I did anyway when my head was being stamped on! Kids and Adults have to learn there own lesson, but anyway, Im gon off on a tangent here. So the bottom line from me is. Teach him how to punch a bloke proper. Thumbs Up

Yep I agree with this, teach him to hit back, but make sure he knows only to hit back if hit first. I sometimes get a bit of stick at school, but because I was taught never to hit back, I dont really have the bollocks for it.
