What bike is it?
I wouldnt imagine that taking the end can off your bike will damage your engine much, it will how ever affect the performance ever so slightly, eg it will feel a little more punchy and not as smooth.
Your just running on straight through pipes... nowt special apart from you will get moaned at by everyone, will get off your bike every time with a splitting headache, and you will get bored of the sound after about 2 days.
Trust me, my mates done it.
Also if the police catch a holda you then you best be prepared to touch your toes as they bend you over.

4 stroke, yes? Changing the exhaust in any way usually changes the carburation needs of the engine. It might run lean without the end can, so if you don't rejet it, long term it may overheat and worst case - hole a piston.
But short term it shouldn't damage the engine. But, do a ride-by though. Bike with no end-can can sound very sporty when you're standing next to it. But when moving at revs they tend to sound like a pikey transit van. |

I rode my Mz-251 without an exhaust after it fell off. The noise was horrendous. I rode it to work, where my mates fixed it, I started work at 4am.....
My apologies to the entire Worthing / Lancing area. |

You rode it home with your exhaust snapped at the manifold?
Would have sooooooo laughed if you flicked a stone up inside your fairing ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Didn't make any difference to be honest.
Its a traight through can so doesnt realy do much when its on anyway. The expansion chamber does all the pressure and stuff, the can is just there to make it quieter.... well thats what ive worked out |

Done it to my 1150GS ages ago and it improved the running, before it was running way too lean now its spot on. But the CAT is still on(giving some back pressure) and that keeps the noise low. It also passed the MOT without the silencer as the CAT is E marked.

I find it gives a lot more power lower down and helps with wheelies a great deal compared to the stock exhaust. ____________________ RS50 -> RS125 -> GSXR600 SRAD -> 02 R1 -> Speed Triple 1050 -> Ducati Streetfighter 1099 -> DRZ400 Superetard |

My exhaust needed a good polish, so I took it off yesterday. Started the thing without it on - I thought it was loud with the can on, but it's nothing compared to that. It sounds like a big American muscle car on tickover. I couldn't rev it too much though, we have some neighbours. |
