I had a Bandit 400 before my NC30 and found the V4 a revelation after putting up with the Suzuki for 2 years. Everything on the V4 felt better, bar a little bottom end maybe (my Bandit was a VVT model). The Suzuki frequently broke down with dodgy non-waterproof electrics (which I ended up bagging in tuperware and snadwich bags), iffy suspension (drags the center stand all too easily), ok brakes and Mothercare build quality (thin paint, poor finish and exposed wiring/components). They didn't even centralise the fuel cap - what was I thinking when I was 19?

My Bandit may have been one of a kind, Banditmania seems to be a thriving forum (covers all Bandits from 250-1200), but if I wanted an unfaired 400, I'd opt for a CB1 or Superfour.

my brothers got one and whilst at the mo we can't comment on the riding etc of it I can't wait to have a go, i don't think most will disagree that it looks nice, the riding position is sit up and beg, i like that a lot. And physically its looks a bigger bike than it is.

Sounds like craigs23 had a bad experience, i've heard lots of people rate them.

Easier to get parts?? bit faster/more powerful, cheap to insure (as standard uk bike not grey imports!), not any more difficult to ride??

you may soon get bored of a little 400??

lol

Has the same engine as the gixer 4 and i havnt heard of one without engine trouble. Heard of 3 that have thrown rods through the engine, shite electrics etc which im sure the bandit will have inherited.

Having said that though a friend has one with 38 thousand miles on, dyno jetted K+N and with gixer 4 cams in it went well but still wasnt as quick as my CB-1 which just had a scorpion can. I like Craigs23 say go for a CB-1, brilliant and stupidly cheap (better looking too).

well ive just bought one and so far so good.
Its fast off the mark, being a little 4 pot it revs like crazy.
mine has got a race can on so it is very loud, which is starting to get on my nerves now.
I dont think i will be keeping it forever, but its an interesting little bike to ride, totally different from a sedate CB500 or ER-5 that you do your test on.
Great powerband effect at about 11,000 rpm too Thumbs Up
I like mine, but im still in the honeymoon period, so may not be totally unbiased.
