I just got off the phone to my friend who went to visit Kris, a previous member of this forum (gsxrpeak) who had a serious bike crash. A van pulled into his lane without checking and knocked him off into a lampost, he broke both his arms, legs and has suffered nerve damage that could be permanent crippling him for life. They say that if his nerves heal, which isn't likely, that he might not be able to walk for a year. It has just come as such a shock, he is a good rider, he knows his bikes as he works as a bike mechanic. Just really want to stress that a lot of the time an accident isn't going to be your fault, other drivers are careless, so ride safe guys.

Ben

Yes it is, but he had bought a new bike since then, a red GSXR 600. Some of you met him on that ride out when he was riding the duke.

That's aweful, hope he does recover from the nerve damage, even if the odds are low.

Give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. If there is anything I can do give me a shout.

If he wants visitors let us know when and which hospital he is in as well.

I don't know the details yet, I literally just only found out myself. Kris is just one of the hardest guys I know, I mean as in he never would show that he was scared or upset about something really. And when my friend saw him at the hospital, Kris said, "Son, I have never been so scared in my life." It was a real hard hitter to my mates who were there.

Thanks guys he will appreciate it. I will ask him when I go see him if he wants anyone to come down and see him, but Kris being Kris probably won't want lots of attention. Anyway, just thought I would spread the word in the attempt that it will help some riders think a bit more and realise that other road users are often the problem.

thnks for telling us and i hope he improves, tell him we are thinking of him

we tend to hear about accidents where ppl get injured and then recover so its easy to forget that some accidents can be a lot worse

it makes me wonder how many ppl from here get in serious accidents that we never hear about

£25 each, Lads ?

Or is his situation better than the other guy who destroyed his bike through stupidity ?

Stupidity = riding beyond your ability on an illegally derestricted bike.

After all, it's only the price of a pizza.
