If you put a different engine in your bike I'm aware you need to send off the log book again/tell insurance, but history wise is it the same as a bike? Do you do hpi checks? Do you check engine numbers?

Any help appreciated, cheers

Leon

New engine = new numbers so inform DVLA and thats that.

Not posible really to check if an engines stolen as HPI have trouble checking without a VIN or Reg No and the Police can't be bothered until you get nicked so get a receipt.

If there is a problem with the engine (stolen) then the first you'd probably know about it is when u register it on your V5 and the DVLA tell you. But all you have to do is change the V5, not your insurance company (unless the engine is different to what's supposed to be in the bike). It may also show up on the Hpi as an engine change.

Hmmm, assuming the engine has all the numbers intact and seems well..is it just a case of hoping its genuine?

On your V5 there's a section to fill in for changing current vehicle details. Thumbs Up
