BT014 v D207

On my old GSXR I had a set of Dunlop D207 tyres and I never had any problems with them. On my new Gixxer I have a set of Bridgestone BT014 tyres and I feel as if they aren't as grippy. Sometimes when leaning over round a corner I can feel the front wheel twitching, for want of a better word. One time I thought the wheel was going to slide and I had to get my foot down motocross style to help balance me. Has anyone else used both sets of these tyres? Should there be much of a difference between them?

I used D208's on my R6 and found them quite good.
I then had D207's on my SP1 and never liked them and the grip was not very good. I replaced them with BT014's and they are soooooooooo much better. They transformed the bike.

D207's are old now and only appear in weird sizes now, or thats what the shop told me.

Ive got a 208 rear and had a 207, i found the 207 to slip a fair bit more.

I have just put a set of 208s on my zx6r and my first impressions are they aint bad. I had a set of 207s on my 600monster and found them shite after i chucked it down the road in the dry.

The 208s seem to be good and grippy and heat up well. A friend of mine highly recomends the 208. Neither are anyway near as good as the 090's i had on the 400 they were like shit to a blanket! Not bad though for 160quid fitted to the bike.

D207s still come in all sizes and are cheap at £89 a pair trade price, so the bike shop probably just wants you buying new expensive ones.

I used D207s and BT010s on my GSXR, the 207s I can't fault, other than a couple of times really pushing it (leant right over and going very fast) the back tyre would kinda jump and skip out a bit but if it did it I could ease off and it'd be ok, it didn't just let go.

The 010s are better, never had a single problem with them as always (my favourite tyre) except gravel in the road, but then all tyres loose it on that. 014s are supposed to be better than 010s and maybe they are, but ppl's opinions on them are generally very poor. So I bought a pair of 207s for my CBR6, because theyre cheaper, last a long time, and I know theyre good.

Yeah, I've found the 207s last for ages. How sticky would you rate the 014s on a 1-10 scale, 10 being stickiest?

Can't fault BT014's myself. The first ride out on them (March) and they were scrubbed to the edge without any fuss after about 60 miles.

Hard to give them a stickyness rating, are we talking track-tyres at 10, or the stickiest road tyres at 10?

Not as sticky as the more track orientated Corsa's, but a better road tyre.

They don't last that long though, mine are showing their age after 1k miles on a zx6r.

I'm on my second pair of 014's and although I have nothing to compare them to, I'm pretty happy with mine. I've had them let go a few times, but then I think that was more to do with stuff on the road than the actual tyre, as I've been cranked over more than that and they felt spot on. As for grip levels I've had no problems with mine, although as Cillit mentioned they dont seem to last that long, I think I've done about 2-2.5K on my rear and it's shagged, was hoping for a bit more out of them seeing as they're only on my 400.

Would anyone recommend me trying some different tyres on my ZXR? I'd rather something that lasted a bit longer, but preferably with around the same level of grip as the 014's.

Think the ZX6R I've got came with them on. Can't fault them so far myself as even in the wet they seemed to perform ok.

I third the pilot powers Went from the D207RRs to the michelins and haven't looked back. Only had one slip in them going around a bend - had far too many on the dunlops. They are also really quick at getting up to heat and fanny-tastic in the wet.
