help i'm a beginner, I've just past my cbt and seen this bike for sale its a suzuki gn 125 p reg (96) £650. it's taxed and mot'd till oct 03, it has been "well looked after" apart from "one little rust patch on the front wheel's mud guard" . Is it a good deal? I havent' a clue, and should I buy it if it has a rust patch?or is that easy to fix? Your answers are appreciated. I'm gonna look at it tommorow (sunday 18/5 evening) what questions should I ask. It's a private sale.

can't say i know much about the bike other than it looks very much like the CG125
best advice is to give it thorough once over to look at rust in hard to get palces such as around gear shifter, rear-front brakes look at the miles its done and look for any damage such as scuffs on the bar ends and dents on the fairings and tank
if you want somthing to potter about on that bike seems good enough
personal taste really

Dodds probably your Man on the GN125.
Or similar Robby,
Probably a good little bike, if lacking power. But probably very practicle to buy, insure, run, Cant see the bike topping about 70 mph. If that.

But ideal for a learner.

sounds like a good buy for a first bike cuz you don't want to spend loads on a bike then sling it down a dual carriageway at 60mph would ya. My first bike was a CG125 I threw that down the road on a frosty day got up laughed for a while had a ciggie then got hom n realised me knee was pissing with blood but didn't care bout the bike though... but if it was an NSR/RS/MITO I would'v cried on the spot where I stopped sliding along the road.

They are decent little bikes. It's like a CG125 with a tiny bit of added "style"

It has 12bhp, does 70mph and 90mpg Smile
Good starter bike cuz it weighs hardly anything (My GN250 weighs nothing so I would imagine the 125 would be like a pushbike Wink

I'd get one, you can't really lose at that sort of price anyway.
And it'll probably run for years. lol.

havn't ridden one of them. have ridden a more modern suzuki 125 4 stroke, and its all the same engine.

nice engine for a 125, torquey compared to a 125 2 stroke, buzzy. but that can be expected. reliable too, and given time they will wind up to 80. my mate got his up to 80 over about 5 miles of motorway.

i think his is the marauder - suzuki 125 single cruiser thingy.

yeh should make a good learner bike.

You should get it if its in good condition.

Everyone said to me 'Get an NSR', but I went for the Yamaha SR125 and am I glad I did! Cheap bike, cheap insurance, cheap to keep up and running, £5 on petrol lasts over 100 miles.

I've had four offs since I got it late last year and there is no real damage (bent brake leaver + bent/scratched crash bars).

p.s. put some holes in the exhaust - makes it loud(er) at high revs.
