According to the Honda website:

Quote:
The new water-cooled, 4-stroke, 125cc SOHC engine is the quickest in the 125cc class and features a 6-speed gearbox and electric start
(about the CBR125)

I don't want to start a 'is the CBR125 any good?' thing, but are Honda allowed to advertise their bike as the quickest when it clearly isn't. Especially after all the controversy about Yamha's R6 redlining at 16.5 not 17.5k rpm.

Just wondering...

It does say 125cc class though. And i think a Sachs XTC125 may be faster.

Could be wrong though.

The GS125 is faster standard.

The jetforce compressor 125 is even faster.

Could, of course, be clever marketing.

Just like adverts for painkillers - "The strongest you can buy". Yep, it's the strongest you can buy, because they contain the legal maximum dose of active ingedient for un-prescribed painkillers. Exactly the same as all the other stuff on the shelf at half the price.

So "Fastest in its class" could simply mean "this is exactly as fast as we and everybody else are allowed to make this type of bike"

finpos.

didn't Kwasaki or yamaha lie blatantly about the 17.5K red line rev limit on their new fandangled sports bike which was instantly exposed as a lie the second the bike was put on a dyno?.

Could just be selective marketting much like the government does , hey look at our waiting lists (showing massive falls) but using a dodgy scale on the left hand side so its ineffect nothing.

But then again nobody probably makes 4t sports 125cc anymore well not many can't think of anything other than the sachs

Aye but again with the small print, there's probably a 125 single class and a 125 twin class.
Anyone with a brain doesn't get a 125 (even a 2t) for the speed. Just get a licence and a restricted gs or er5. That's plenty fast enough to start with. Rolling Eyes

is there any difference between the racing versions of 125s then? , never seen those raced but they are meantioned in the biking press now and again or is it just about handling over power in that class?

Racing versions are tuned up shitloads and need rebuilt very often.

They would be nice and quick though.
