As you know I was raped of my licence from a rather dodgy speed trap on my commute to work in October.
It cleaned me out of cash trying to get back on the road with the ever increasing prices, but within a month I was starting to get back to where I was before, unfortunately sods law, my bike broke down shortly afterwards, a suspect fuel problem.

It appears it’s not just the fuel line (I found a split in the air hose) but could actually be the timing, along with the carbs needing setting up. Not much of a worry but due to circumstance the bikes been off the road for almost a month now.
I am doing ok to pay for the work, the guy is coming over tomorrow to have a proper go this time now we know roughly where to look.
I’m currently getting a lift of a girl at work, she has been so good to do this for me, she only lives round the corner, but I feel like a complete sap for it. I can’t afford car lessons and a test just yet, and thinking about buying a car and running it to, is just impossible.
I’m looking to sell the VFR when she is running again, and then buy another bike.
Working out a few figures I can lower the APR on my current loan and only pay a few tenners more a month to get a new bike, I can only get a second hand bike obviously, but as you know anything can happen to them.
This is the thing, im not on the road now and when I buy another bike im so worried about being in this position again.
What is the fucking point, I’m going mad not being able to ride, I love bikes its my passion in life.

Sorry for the rant, comments welcome.

Killa

Not really sure what comments you're looking for, but this springs to mind...

"Better the devil you know..."

Once you've got your VFR all sorted and running again, why would you want to sell it? At least with the VFR you know the problems it has, and you know at least some of its history. With a new (2nd hand) bike, you could be walking into all sorts of mechanical nightmares!

If you can rearrange your loans for a better APR, can you do that and still keep the VFR?

I see what you mean Jon but the VFR is getting on, it’s probably done over 30K now so I can imagine problems start to occur all too often.
I can only improve my APR if I borrow more money.

you could get something cheap and reliable as commuter (cb250)so u will never be begging lifts, and still have the vfr400 for weekends when its working

even if the cb250 breaks down, you will still have vfr400

but it probably wont as they are made for reliability rather than peformance

also psychologically, having a slow bike for commuting type stuff and a fast bike for weekends where there are no speed cameras, will mean that you are less tempted to speed on your commute

when i come back from a country road trip, i cant help speeding on the way home, and that effect lingers a bit

it doesnt carry over to the slow bike tho

also there will be less strain on the vfr400, as the cb250 will be taking the hit of the commuter miles, running costs will be less on a cb250 too and may be more comfy

You know Colin, you have a point.

TBH if I was going to go for a bullet-proof cheap commuter it would be a C90.
Hmm, I just wanted one bike for all uses though really, but yeah I can consider this option.

its also good for winter when you dont want to use your pride and joy in the salt

and it will make you appreciate the power of your 400 more

my rs125 felt like an awesome machine after Id been riding on my yp250 for a bit and hadnt been out on the rs125 for a while

variety is the spice of life

a spanner is good for undoing nuts, and you could use it to bang in nails too, but why not get a hammer ?

why make do with one that can do everything, when you can have two tools which do each job right ?

suzuki is also thinking of going down this route and getting a vfr800/vfr750 for commuting and saving his gsxr600 for weekends

although i reckon the vfr750 will be almost as much to run as the gsxr600

Do your comments above even make sense? Who are you?
Thanks so much for the kind words! And you are abusing me because....?

No it's not abuse.....just fair comment, so now who's pathetic?

Now I know why people don't last on this site for very long & why they are always warned when they are new comers to watch out for certain users. It's not worth the effort to be nice sometimes. Hope the Londoners are nice people, I've heard from friends that they are mostly very helpful and friendly. There are some lovely people on this site too (mostly). So here's hoping! Razz

It will be invaluable info for me when I get over there. So for those of you who have been so helpful...BIG THANKS! See you on the flipside ! Cheers Razz

Who the fuck are you?

You post a message on an english forum in what I can only guess is Afrikaans which is probably a snotty little comment. I know you had a few comments about Killa before, so why carry it on? And if it's a fair comment, then why not post it in English?

Twat.

bit harsh from reflex there
im sure iron maiden made a faily innocuous comment

afrikaans is similar to dutch so babelfish gave me this

"a shit engine bicycle what nie work nie, no lisensie (exactly so, however, because hy kannie well ry nie), nothing money and no meisie. Man, who lewe are drone brake nice! That wheel turn ne"

maybe reflex was right after all
and i was about to downrate him aswell
