pulled up next to one at the lights and about every 15 seconds it started beaping and he pressed a buttonon his bars to stop it? does any one know why it does that?  |

The bike looks fantastic and rides great. Currently I ride a K2 GSX-R600 and would swap it for one of these in an instant if given the chance (not just because it's newer, but because overall it seems to be better).
Having it as a courtesy bike was a big surprise as I was expecting a scooter or some other clapped out bike. Instead I was taken outside by a pretty girl called Rachel, given a quick tour and then handed the keys to the bike... How could I have said no !
The bike is much smaller than my K2 and the seating position meant that I was sitting up a lot straighter than I would have done on my bike. Out of curiosity I tried to get my head down (racing style) and found that because of the bike's size, I couldn't without really pushing my arse to the back of the seat. There is no light switch on the bike, with the lights coming on as soon as you start the bike (which I think is a bonus). Once other thing to note is that with the sharp angles on the side of the petrol tank, it is not very accommodating for magnetic tank bags. You can attach them, but I found that only half of the magnets were making contact because of these angles.
Sound wise... When Rachel first started the bike, for a split second I thought it was a diesel. Stupid I know, but the engine just seems to tick over rather than hum which I found very peculiar. Unfortunately this impression stuck with me and a couple times I found myself wondering if the bike would really have the necessary power when I was about to overtake some traffic. Once you get up to a reasonable speed though it sounds fine and really loud (to me it sounded just as loud as my Yoshi can). Personally though I felt it was more of a "i've got a hole in my exhaust" loud rather than a "get out of my way, i'm a performance bike that would eat you alive" loud.
Despite these misgivings I found the bike's brakes to be sharp, the gearbox to be smooth (with less travel on the gear lever), the throttle also just as smooth and a lot more "low end" power than my K2. In a couple of cases I found myself using 4th instead of 3rd, 5th instead of 4th etc. just because the bike didn't have any trouble accelerating from low speeds in those gears. finally, this bike seems to love corners. It wants corners. It demands corners. I wasn't pushing it because of the weather conditions (and the fact that the insurance was only TPO), but every time I went into a corner I could feel the bike dropping onto its side and wanting to be cranked over as low as possible. Don't know how else to describe it, but I am sure you will find out soon enough yourself |
