I've experimented with it on my old DT125R and got pretty damn good in the dirt and snow. Only done it once by mistake on my R1 and almost shat my pants. Very Happy

Fucking hell Rossi is awesome!! Everytime i see him race he gets better and better!

On another note, how do you go about making your bike slide around corners like that?

I do it by dropping it down a gear or two, weight the front of the bike. Hard on the brakes and throw it into the corner.

Then again, im on a supermoto, so its easier.

Just chuck lots of power in when you start to corner. A powerful enough bike will spin the rear wheel

Bikes back in because of the rear wheel slowing down, not because it spinning up. Rolling Eyes

You've really got it in for me today don't you?
Stick the power on round a corner and see what happens then

Actually, bikes backing into a corner could be down to either the wheel spinning up or slowing down!

Dont worry dean im sure he isnt picking on you Smile

If he is dont worry youre probably bigger than him anyway Laughing

I'm sure they don't wanna powerslide the bike into a corner like supermotos, putting on the power will keep you going quick while letting you turn that bit more.
And Dru, yeah I probably am Very Happy

ok, are we talking about the same stuff?

Not sure what the pics show, but the vid shows rossi backing it in.

You back a bike in by making the rear wheel rotate slightly slower than the speed it should be.

thats what the vid shows.

If you try to make the wheel spin faster on the approach to the corner, you crash. Trying to find a vid to prove that fact.

Yes, put the power down mid corner, the bike will cross up, but they were on about backing it in.

Yes, you are fatter than me.

The slide is caused by the rear almost locking up, which is usually caused by changing down a couple of gears, which would thusly attempt to slow the bike down...

Well, changing down gears is the proper way to do it (I bet the mechanics/engineers are a bit pissed, especially after all of their efforts to make a working slipper clutch!), but Chills likes to it slamming down on the rear brake Shocked

But if your fatter isn't there a better chance of you being softer, like a pillow for example.

I have no problem with almost locking the rear and making it "back" out sideways a bit... but fuck trying to do it going into a corner and then reapplying the throttle again around said corner with the back still sideways Confused Madness I tell you! Very Happy

I have a pretty good idea of how to do it and I think cagiva geezer is right you know!
try approaching a corner fast and then knocking down gear one too many and feel the rear end slide everywhere.
but I usually panic when this happens though.

It's not the sliding the rear bit I'm worried about, I do that approaching corners all the time, it's more to do with the fact that they continue to slide the rear while at almost full lean Confused Very Happy
