Just ordered a Kenwood KT3201 radio, and fitting kit for my Autocom. I'm going to have to switch the Easi-7 in the FJR around for the Pro-7 in the thunderace, as the Easi-7 can't suppport powering the radio and needs a push-to-talk button, whereas the pro can power the radio, and is completely voice activated.

even more gadgets! Very Happy

Excellent!

Just installed pro-7's on mine, my dads and my brother's bikes ready for our little tour in France week after next.
I was amazed by the quality of them. They are fantasic and well worth the money. Being able to have the GPS and phone plugged in too is really useful.

Enjoy it!

I got an Starcom on Ebay the other day. I'm going to try it tomorrow hooked up to my phone which has GPS on it.

I just hope it's not too difficult to wire the unit into the bike's electrics somewhere!

I found the wiring fairly easily.

Take a multimeter to the wires as they leave the fuse box (well my fuse box is easily accessable under the seat).

Found which one was only live when the ignition was on (and it happened to be fused correctly too).

Then solder the wire from the intercom to it, earth to the battery and bob's ya mum's cousin your sorted Thumbs Up

Guess I have to buy a solder iron then. You can get them quite cheaply now I believe.

I attmpted to set it all up today. My main problem was getting the bits into the helmet. I gave up. Wasn't worth making a big effort as I was buying a new helmet today anyway.

Good thing too as with my old Roof I was practially chewing on the microphone - now with my new helmet it should be a comfortable distance away.

Only thing is I'm not sure if the lining will move enough to allow me to fit the earphones behind them and I don't see how they could be put in temporarily either.

Another thing is that I was wanting to use the system with my phone (GPS on phone) but I have the wrong Nokia adaptor. Confused

Complicated stuff!

got the fitting kit and radio last week.

piece of piss to fit. Autocom supplied a "dummy" battery, which just clips on.. the wires plug into the radio sockets and off it goes.
Easy!
