I am resurecting a RD350 from storage, The turn signals tend to just about kill the engine if the battery is not at full charge or when the bike is at idle. the bike only has 4000 miles on it. I did change the rectifier but that made no difference. [/b]

Check that the battery earth (and the one on the rectifier) are bolted to clean, bare metal. Paint/rust are great for stopping 12 volts Wink

If that battery has been sitting discharged for a length of time, it'll be borked. Don't be misled by it seeming to charge up ok!

If you're getting 14.5V across the battery terminals whne you rev the engine, the charging circuit is OK. That only leave the battery. More than about 15V will kill a battery, less than 13.5V won't charge it.

Cheers

thanks for the advice on this. I did order a new battery and will check the connections and use a volt meter to test the charging system. I may have fried the old battery some how.

Try posting on the aircooled-rd forum (if it's not an LC), loads of useful advice and info about your bike on that site-

www.aircooled-rd.com
or
www.yamaha-rd.com for LC experts
or
www.yamahardclub.com for a mix of the two

Jubal thanks for the info. I went to the site and found plenty of people with the same problems.
