Hi folks,
My forks were 100% fine but one of them was leaking a wee bit, so I stripped it and replaced the fork seal. I've done this before, its quite easy.
Upon reassmebling the fork, the stanchion would not slide once I put the guide bush (teflon coated slider) back into the fork leg. It just jammed solid.
The best suggestion I had was that the bush might be twisted or distorted, so I bought a new one... £20 down the drain. New bush made no difference.
Basically when you put the guide bush in, the stanchion jams up and wont slide. This sounds exactly like a bent stanchion.
But how? Could it be anything else? I cant possibly explain how it became bent... If I can't fix this, it might not be worth new forks, I might just write the bike off, its just too much to handle.
Im so pissed off. Simple fork seal replacement turns in to this nightmare.
Any suggestions? ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

Only one, are you sure everything went back in the right order, I've done it wrong before now and everything locked up ____________________ I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite so sure. |
