What a fantastic race!

I really wanted the little Stoner to win though... seriously impressive riding. Thumbs Up
One to look out for.

I could have cried for Pedrosa though, poor little blighter.

Great race, really enjoyed it Thumbs Up
Nothing against Melandri, but I really wanted to see Stoner beat him on the last lap. Never mind though, Melandri rode a great race.

Didn't miss Rossi being up at the front one bit, I'm a big fan of the guy but I only think the sport will miss him for his post race celebrations and humour.
Can't wait for the next GP.

And his unrivalled genius on a bike.

I think (hope) that his poor start to the season will make him more determined and prolong his commitment to bikes. I don't understand the people who want him to go from MotoGP - he's arguably the greatest rider ever and we should be savouring his talents, not wishing him gone.

Totally agree there mate, he is undoubtably the best out there by a long way and probably the best ever, Donington lat year was simply amazing.
But if he leaves for F1 next year I wouldn't be massively upset because hopefully there will just be more races like today's.

It looked like Nikki Hayden's experience came through, he could tell his tyres were going off, and held back to ensure he went the distance. Pedrosa just kept pushing and pushing and came a cropper.

Great race though, shame Hayden couldn't make it stick this time.

Impressed with Stoner and Pedrosa, bit disappointed that Hayden again couldn't come up with a winning move after being up the sharp end again.

Whats going on at Yamaha then Shocked

Nikki's riding seemed so much smoother and more controlled than I have ever seen him before. He always struck me as a little hot headed and would push too hard, then get frustrated.

I think that was the first time I've seen him ride with that level of maturity, particularly dropping back at the end when his tyres were failing. Thumbs Up

If he can stay consistant then he could do really well this year.

I personally think stoner will come good in 1 or two races time, and then rapidly burn out for the rest of the season...

I think he feels he has a lot to prove, but once he's won that first race, i think the ability and experience to keep winning will be missing, and as a result he will end up finishing the season about mid grid...

Who knows, i would like to be proven wrong! That kid can ride Thumbs Up

You could be right about him burning out.

I'd like to see the level of racing continue though, it was really entertaining watching the four of them scrap. Stoner and Pedrosa are so lively and fresh to watch, they really take the risks and make it fun to watch.

That was the best MotoGP race that I've seen for ages - look at what happens when Rossi doesn't do his usual wait-in-second-until-4-laps-to-go-then-overtake trick. Stoner had a brilliant ride, its just a shame that he didn't anticipate Melandri's move and manage to block him. I was gutted for Pedrosa, but then that was just his youthful exuberance showing through.

I'm actually really looking forward to Rossi buggering of to F1, I think it be good for both sports. MotoGP will see more races like this one while in F1 his agression and determination should bring some more action to the racing.

there's an article in one of the bike mags about how the riders are like hobbits - pedrosa, i think, being something like 5'3" and 6 stone.

that's less that half my body weight Shocked

they should put a weight limit on the combined bike/rider to keep the best riders in and not just the racing dwarfs...

...although, now there's an idea....

Very Happy

Everyone is saying how nice it was that rossi didnt do his usual thing...

But he went from 11th - to 14th, then all the way back up to 4th place!

Now although it is a bit boring to watch the same old thing every time, rossi storming out in front etc, he is an extremely good rider, to pull back that much time, and still be on haydens rear end going over the finish line is still brilliant to watch Thumbs Up

The BBC didnt cover him too much, as there was too much going on up front, but i would have realy liked to have seen rossi catch up all those places and almost get a podeum!

Just think, if he hadnt have had that wobble early on, he might have been up there, challenging stoner and pedrosa etc... all the way.

So erm, whens the next one folks?

I read somewhere, i think it was on motogp.com that Pedrosa's career stats are better than Rossi's were at the same point in their careers.

That being the case i think a few quid on Pedrosa for the title in 2007 maybe safe money

That's the thing, while his riding may make for interesting viewing, it has often made the racing a lot less interesting to watch.
