My mate and I were both gonna get bikes, but its looking like he's pussying it, do I still go ahead with it?

The whole idea of us getting bikes was so we could go runs around coast roads, maybe the odd roadtrip etc and just have a laugh. Im not so keen on riding alone now though, I know I'll enjoy the bike, but not the riding alone.

Are you a "Lone Rider"? And whats it like?

bryce Smile

Having recently been on my first ride out, I can say that riding alone has its perks, in that you can ride however you want, and you can go wherever you want to go. But riding with other people is enormous fun, and quite educational.

There's no reason why you shouldn't get one now; that's one of the reasons why forums like this exist; to organise rideouts and such. Smile

Alright mate

Most of the time i'll probably be on my own, but this bike will be my only transport so it's not just for fun but to go too & from work. Nothing would stop me from getting a bike i don't think Smile

You could look up your local bike club and go on some of their ride outs, or even join the area forum that you belong to as they are always rideouts being posted in them (well they are in the northern one anyway Very Happy )

I'm a lone biker too. I bought the bike for commuting but now enjoy just getting on it at weekends and going for a spin. But alone unfortunately.

Started off with me and 4 mates on 125s

First off, one mate got a car instead of a 125
Then another mate wrote his CG off
The other guy wrote his RS125 off

I was left on my own for a few months...

.. then a car wiped my bike out Laughing

Sad in a way because the whole gang has now gone Crying or Very sad

(oh, and the first guy who got a car instead of a 125 has TONIGHT written his car off Rolling Eyes Not good.)

I always ride out on my own. Not many younger bikers want to be seen in the company of a 57yo with L's on Crying or Very sad . I find it easier to concentrate on the actual driving rather than have to worry about anyone else. Almost got me knee down yesterday - put the fear of God up me it did! Shocked Shocked Had to stop for a fag after. Rolling Eyes

I ride on my own mostly except the odd mate or something. They all have bikes above 1000cc so they kinda have to wait around for me Embarassed.

I've only been on a ride out with one other person once, all the other times i've been a loner.

It's ok, but when you actually get somewhere is when I have problems, because I get bored just wandering about on my own, and I like to socialise Smile

I ride by myself, i like the sense of freedom, gives me a chance to get away from it all and have soem time to myself, although this week i am joining a local bike club, and going to try and do some ride outs on here at some point.

Get the bike, I am also a lone biker, love having a blast but it's a shame I got no-one to share it with. I live in the south - east so I could go to meets at Boxhill etc but a long spell in hospital has really knocked the confidence out of me ( not the riding bit, the meeting people bit, my hospital stay was not bike related) so you could say I'm a biker no mates Laughing Still never know, might be able to get that confidence boost one day Confused

Hi,

I've done the Wirral Egg Run, and been out with a few mates on much faster bikes a few times.

I was a big fan of the Egg Run, as it wasn't about high speed riding and taking silly risks.

I tend to prefer riding on my own.

Ride by myself 99 % of the time. Know a couple of people that i go on the occaisional rideout with but its difficult to arrange times when we're all free due to work etc Mad Quite content riding alone though. Love setting off without a clue where i wanna go and just see where it takes me... which usually ends up a good 50 miles away from home. Would love to go on a big rideout one day though. The ones that have bikers stretched across all 4 lanes of the motorway Cool

I would get the bike if i were you. Once he see's you bombin around he'll probably see the light anyway and join ya.

Yeah, I'd be proud of myself if my Dad spent hard earned on buying me a useful tool and I turned him down.

Yeah I ride on me own most of the time, but a work mate who lives local will sometimes ride home with, we have a laugh. Also seeing other bikers and getting the nods is quite good also.
wrnt on the Mayday run to Hastings yesterday, it was a real buzz, but there were some twats out though!

Im a lone rider, no one i know has a 50. Im sure it would be more fun going for a ride with a group of mates, have 'joined' with a few trail bikes who were on the same road with me before and its kinda cool being in a group riding along Smile One of my mates was going to get a supermoto but in the end he just changed his mind and is waiting to get a car Confused
