Tyre recommendations

My cheque should be clear in the next day or two, and the first thing I'm getting done is my rear tyre. I'm running an 014 on there now, but that's become shagged after about 2-2.5K, so I'm looking for something that will give me a bit of a longer life but without a massive sacrifice in grip. I've got an 014 on the front as well, but that's only done about 4-500 miles and I dont really wanna fork out to get that changed as well. I've heard people mention running an 020 on the rear, but is there anything else anyone would recommend?

I wouldn't have thought an 020 would be suitable for 400s - not if you like feedback/responsiveness/feedback/etc in the measure. If it was my choice, I'd stick with H-rated tyres.

Opt for either Bridgestone 090 front, 92 rear or Dunlop GPR70 fron GPR80 rear. That way, you get all the front end stickiness, but with extended rear tyre life. Tyres would wear about evenly, but expect 3,500-4,000miles to a set.

Dunlop D220s seem good on my gixxer. Your 400 shouldnt give enm a hard time.

Its gotta be the bridgestone 090, I found it a very very good tyre and would highly recomend them. I had them on my 400 and they were great, quite a few friends have them on 400s and also speak highly of them. Durability wasnt all that bad i must have got about 2-3 thousand miles out of the rear including a run to brandshatch and quite a few other motorway miles.

Do they still do 090's then? I'm sure last time I was chatting to the guy he said they only got 014/020's.

Usually a shop on Ebay selling pairs of 090s. Still get them from a few online stockists as well, try a Google seach. Wouldn't recomend one on the rear though, the sets on my old NC30 rarely lasted longer than 1500-2000 miles. Got annoyed by having to change them every 6 weeks.
