Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone knows what the max speed of the Honda Hornet 600 (54 plate) is ? ( ran 2000 miles)
The reason is , that i was giving my throttle a twisting and got upto 125ish..but the engine didn't get too the red line..( in any gear) infact was a 1000rpm or so less before fuel starvation...which i find bizare.
I was told that maybe my bike had a performance pipe on before and was replaced before i bought it (bought from a dealer) which could be the reason behind the revs not getting high enough.
I thought the 600 would get too atleast 140.. ..as with the other bikes in its range.
Any help..or is this just normal ____________________ 2006 Blue Honda Hornet 600 |

You've seen 125 (ish) but that won't have been true speed, that's indicated.
And I doubt you'll actually get to see 140 on a Hornet as its unfaired, so you'll be taking an unbelieveable battering while your at that speed.
Jay has a Hortnet with a decent pipe on it, not sure what he's seen on the clocks on it though, don't think its around 140 though.
I've seen 142 on the clock on my half faired Fazer 600 and it was no where near that in real terms (127 on the GPS) and I wasn't there for long and there was bugger all left.
I'd have said 130, maybe a touch more is you're really thrashing it. I woud reckon mines nearer to that realistically too. ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

Reviews say around 140, I've had about 130 out of Dad's '99 Hornet (kph of course ). Power seems to flatten off around 10/11, highlighted in a few dyno readouts I've seen on stock bikes. Body positon would play a bit of a part at eeking out the few last mph. |
