Just wondering what peoples top speeds are on publics roads. Has everyone with a litre bike done 170+?

My top speed is about 130 on a countryroad (not 100% though, wasnt looking at speedo much). Dad let me have a lil blast on my gixxer

Also do you guys recon its safe to go 150+ on motorways? Big risk of getting caught?

I want to hear everyones top speeds please Very Happy

Cheers

On the motorway I tend to sit under 100mph for my average speed. I do have the occasional blast of speed but you're asking for trouble if you regularly sit at 150mph for a long time if you ask me.

Out on the country roads I usually do much faster speeds, but it's never for any real length of time as corners usually appear quite frequently. There tends to be less police on these roads in my experience.

142mph, indicated, on the way back from Andys house on Monday. Well lit, empty M27. I could only do it for about 10 minutes before I was mentally exhausted from trying to observe as hard as I could, constantly. At that sort of speed, I'm being battered all over the place, and considering the state of my tyre at that point, I really shouldn't have been doing it at all.

Maxed out my zx6r and gsxr400 quite a few times.

Happily sit on the motorway up to 130.

Even in my shitty car i sit between 100 110 if i can.

I took the gpz up to an indicated 130 on the motorway once, just for a few seconds. But the wind blast was immense.

I can't imagine what 170mph+ must feel like. It seems you'd get whip lash if you lifted your head.

My regular trips up and down the A2 are never really underneath 100mph, unless some cage is in the way and then I have to drop to 85 whilst I undertake the right hand lane hogger.

Top I've done is 115 on my bike and 125 as a pillion on my mates un restricted VFR.

More a case of if you went past a copper at 150+, would you really be worried about stopping... Question

Maxed my CBR1000RR a few times in one night racing a 911, but over a certain MPH it really is just numbers on the speedo. (assuming it's not too windy of course) Very Happy

(p.s circa 40miles in 15min (J11 M23 -> J4 M25) = av spd 160mph).

seen the clock go to 150, but didnt dare take my eyes off the road after that.

usually dont go past 120 when im going anywhere, generally stick to about 75-80 most of the time unless the road really invites me to let'er'rip lol

Rev limiter in top on my exup several times a week,

1 tooth smaller front sprocket, indicated 175, I'd guess at 155 ish.

By the way I don't live in the uk, plus it gets boring going fast, would rather go fast round corners Smile

My dad coaxed me into it (although I wasn't going to say no!).

Razz

It's really nice, few things here and there but they just need getting used to.
