Hi, I can't stand reading posts that are extremely long so I thought I'd write a short story of what happened and include some pictures.
I low sided on a left hand bend and trapped me foot and broke my peg, no real reason for the low side maybe a bit of grease or gravel on the road?? Stood the bike up it and headed straight for a car on the wrong side of the road, dived back onto my side but just at the turn in point for a right hander, headed straight for a lampost I chucked it to the right to miss it, front end dug in then I dnt remember much apart from hearing my bike cartwheeling down the road smashing to pieces.
I think i'm extremely lucky to come away with only a smashed helmet and a broken foot and a few bruises here and there, so all is well, not too sure about biking anymore, i'll have to wait an see
Heres some pictures to help with the story and the damage to the bike , more to come
Cheers Dan ____________________ Don't ride it, RAG IT!! |

Cheers guys, I think I'm off to bed its startin to catch up with me a bit shakes you up pretty bad Dan
Also before anyone says 'oh well he must have been doing a stupid speed' I was doing around 50mph in a national zone and have taken this corner hundreds of times before. I'm going back to see tomorrow to check for gravel or grease as a number of other people said their bikes were twitching and sliding at the same place. ____________________ Don't ride it, RAG IT!! |

i remember my 1st crash, luckily i wasnt hurt, and it wasnt quite as bad, adrenaline rush was immense, i dont know why one of my immediate thoughts were....
"lets do it again!"
these things do make u reconsider biking, i know mine taught me to go alot slower/easier then i use to, hope you make the right choice ____________________ Write off! OO could have been much worse, greasy road?
could have been an accident prior to you getting there that hadn't been cleaned up properly?
Beautiful weather we have today and you don't know about biking, I'm sure sitting by an open window with the sound of bikes wizzing by and then howling down the bypass would make your mind up I know it drives me mad when I need to get some work done.
Hope your ankle heals well and your back out there with the best of em before too long

Well done for avoiding the oncoming car!
The road looks like the tarmac is breaking up from the edges inwards so there was probably lines of loose gravel mud on the road, probably from heavy tractor tyres overlapping the edges and damaging the tarmac. ____________________ GSXR600 |

Hi, NSRSparkie is spot on with what happened made it a lot easier to understand cheers
As for the road I have just been back there and the road has broken up in the middle and there is a diference in height of the two parts and it seems my back end slipped down onto the lower part which caused the initial low side.

Well done for avoiding turning an accident into a tragedy, the state of the roads continues to decline, even motorways seem to be carving up badly, especially in the slow lane, the local favourite for blowing out a few cobwebs is the M45, the other week about 2 miles onto it from the M1 the surface has definitley shifted- making it very uneven and causing the bike to weave, i was only on a single cylinder 250, would hate to think if i'd been testing out a quicker bike!
anyway, dont wish to hijack your thread, quick and safe recovery to you and your bike ____________________ 1975 CB125s, 1991 GN250, 1990 Ducati Paso 906
