When i had a 350LC it failed on a faulty horn. Believe it or not, he said i could fix the horn when i got home, ring him up and let him here it down the phone. He then wrote me out a certificate and sent me on my way ____________________ My Bikes in order:- Yamaha RXS100 / Suzuki X7 250 / Yamaha RD350LC / Kawasaki

Not so much a "funny fail", as in 1 item....
But when i took my first bike in for MOT, my Gilera GSM50...
The bloke went out to write out the "form", came back with 2, A3 Notepad sheets of paper attatched to the "Fail Form" because he needed that much paper to fit everything on
Needless to say he was supprised to see that bike again 3 weeks later
Part from that ive had the regular - "Your blinkers not working mate" or "That headlights a bit high" or "Mate, your tail light aint working"... Quick smash with your palm and - "Oh right i see mate, nice one! Next...." ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Bit scary really.
Crashed my scooter into the back of a stationary van at 40.
It was pretty fucked, anyway i stuck a new front fairing on and it passed the mot. I think the forks are still bent. |

Took the marauder in for its MOT with a blown sidelight (didnt know) anyway, he fitted one for me, how kind... he then charged me 50p for the bulb, and 25 quid for labour... told him to take it out as i wasnt paying him to do a job for £25 that i could do in 25 seconds, asked him for a retest that same day, took the bike outside, fitted one out of the back of my dads car and left it there, had a wonder round town till the mot time.

My Jawa once failed on two points (the second being the worst).
1) One of the EIGHT bolts that hold the front mudguard on had sheared. I asked "but is is loose or fouling any other part of the bike?". Apparently that isn't the point?
I went back home, hacksawed the head off another bolt, araldited it on top of the sheared one and re-presented it the next day.
2) There's no split pin in your rear wheel spindle.
"Well, no there isn't. There's not supposed to be one. If you look, there isn't a hole for one."
"Well, you'll have to drill one."
"So you want me to drill a hole in a major, load bearing part of my motorcycle where there was never designed to be one? So if it snaps in half through this hole, you'll cover the damage?
I can bring in the official workshop manual which has an exploded diagram of the rear wheel assembly showing there is no pin, just a fine pitch nut.".
"I'm not passing it without a pin through."
I eventually put a lock-washer on and made a mental note never to go there again.
I also had someone try to fail my Tomos moped for leaking fork seals. I explained this was impossable because it didn't have any fork seals, just grease-damped springs. He pointed out the marks along the sliders, which is where I had greased them.
Eventually persuaded him to phone the Tomos dealers in town who confirmed what I was saying. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

my NTV650 passed , though he told me the tyres needed changing very soon and the brake pads were a bit worn but all ok just bread and butter stuff which needed to be fixed soon but not right away.
Before I was worried cus it had a misc problem when using the indicators would stall the thing and using the horn would also stall the thing.
but during the MOT test it behaved impecably
The guy doing it for me wheeled it out the MOT station and fired it up while putting on his gear, it caught fire due to an electrical problem and destroyed lots of the plastics and needed a new tank.
So he bought it back with an MOT pass certificate and it needed £20 of parts (stripped off another NTV650) and some rewiring. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. My bike failed of fork seals.
Went home drained the oil then put in 3/4 of what should have been in there. took it back an hour later and it passed
The guy actually believed i had changed the seals in an hour! |

Oh yeah, that was one of the items on my 50...
We tried the fork seal, but couldnt get it right, so we thought "fuck it". Drained the oil and took it back .... "Yup, not leaking any more, nice job! - Thats one down..." ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Leaky Cylinder - loss of comprestion
No exhaust gasket
exhaust cracked in 2 places
Unbelievable emmisions

no left side fork seal
flickering tail light
no spring on the stand - tied up !

throttle didn't return
plate light out
cracked plate

My first bike, a 250 Superdream had no oil in the rear shocks, hence no damping, if you pressed down on the rear end and let go the rear wheel would come off the ground
The MOT'er mentioned that they were a 'bit bouncy'.
