Are these any good?

At the moment I'm just wearing a pair of tough jeans because I can't find any leather trousers that fit me (plus leather jeans were a bit overkill on my scooter, I got enough laughs from the Rossi rep leather jacket...). But now I've got my Bandit I'd like a bit more protection on my legs.

I've seen Draggin Jeans mentioned a few times now on the forum so I'm curious. How much better are they than normal jeans - can I do more tarmac surfing with these than with normal jeans? (Not that I make a habit of tarmac surfing, but you never know) Would I be better off with leathers? I could probably find some cheap leathers for the same price as the draggin jeans, but cheap leathers would be hot to wear in the summer, so I'd be less inclined to wear them I think.

Where can I get some ladies Draggin Jeans in the UK?

Thanks for your help,

Rach

I found a couple of sites (including Ebay) to be able to buy them off. I was looking at them too, for the same reasons, just typed Draggin Jeans into google and hit UK search.

They have stockist links on there site:

https://www.dragginjeans.com.au/stockists/unitedKingdom/index.htm

There might be someone local to you Smile

Not being funny but why can't you find some leather jeans to fit? Nothing's over kill when you're on a bike, looking like a dick is something different though. Wink

IMO sometimes a warm/hot summer and leather jeans just don't mix. If you're too hot and bothered then you can't be concentrating on your riding. So textiles are a good alternative, particularly as fitted with armour and abrasion resistant (kevlar I think).

I too have heard good things about this type of jeans. Hood are another outfit that produce textile jeans, Hood jeans are at https://www.hoodjeans.co.uk

So will someone buy a pair and post a review (why isn't there a review section?) to share. Thumbs Up

Always ride in leather throughout the summer like the majority of riders and it doesn't bother me. Just wondered why the comment about not being able to find leathers that don't fit before I made any further suggestions.

I'm guessing they don't have the right sizes or something, remember whilst blokes clothing goes up to really big sizes, womens only goes up to a pretty crappy size.

I think this might have been done though, IIRC, Bendy could help with suggestions on female biker attire.

I still think you guys are all pussies talking about summers in UK and leathers. It gets to what, 25 degrees celsius during summer in UK? It's the start of may and we've already got 40 degrees and i'm still wearing leathers!

Because:
a) I'm female
b) I'm not a stick
c) I haven't really had a proper look

Icey has it spot on, it's very hard to find women's clothing in bigger than a 14, especially in well known makes such as Dainese, A* etc. I got my jacket custom made because I got fed up with trying on jackets that didn't fit (also, was my only chance to get the Nastro Rossi rep that I love) but right now I really can't afford custom leather legs.

Male biker stereotypes go from tiny racers to big burly blokes with beards, so the clothing follows this trend. Women, it's leggy thin birds and I'm neither particularly thin nor leggy.

I'm sure I could find some to fit, but whether I could then afford them is another question entirely. These kevlar jeans would offer me more protection than my normal jeans and at a reasonable price, that I could just about stretch to.

Thanks for the links guys. Icey, I checked the US draggin site, but now I think about it, it's completely obvious that the UK stockists would be on the Australian site. Why didn't I think about that?!

Rach, I have some, they are comfy.

I got the blokes combats, only because the girls jeans looked like Bon Jovi circa 1988!

I would recommened them, but possibly not for any serious riding, they are fine for potterig around etc.

Only trouble is they don't come in different lengths - but they are cotton, so can be shorterned for short rses like me.

Thumbs Up

Search for 'hood jeans' on here. Tonnes of personal reviews (thread seems to appear quite regularly since I've been on here). I've got a pair of their darker blue ones (ND4), and I use them mostly with the Knox armour. I'm really pleased with them, but as is said in some of the other threads, they will be a little warm in summer (conversely my legs have not been cold over winter, with waterproofs over the top). Dead comfy in general though. More aramid than draggin'. I wear them for the whole day sometimes and apart from a little self-consciousness about having big knees and hips (the armour Wink which is optional) no problems. I loved the family business / personal service as well:

I was impressed because Hood ask you your leg length as part of the ordering process, and alter your jeans to suit. I guess they have a load of common combinations of waist and length pre-done anyway.

However, there are cheaper armoured textile trousers out there for those on a proper budget. They're the most expensive bit of kit I've got apart from the bike! And I have not crashed in them so can't personally comment on their impact protection or abrasion resistance. The website has people's positive stories.

All in all Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

As you asked and in my opinion, yes. Especially some that zip to your jacket. Draggin jeans might be armoured and tougher than regular jeans but they are a looser fit than decent leathers. I'm sure you are aware that in a crash you get thrown about like a ragdoll and armour that doesn't stay in place is as good as useless, it can even do more damage.

As I said, I think this has been done and some good suggestions made and I'm fairly sure Bendy could help.

Personally I'd rather save up and get something worthwhile that buy something slightly better and have wasted the cash. Thumbs Up

FWIW have you tried Hein Gericke?
I know they do good textile jean type trousers. I use a pair of their black jeans during summer with the flexible hiptrotec armour, as I can still wear them in the office. From what I remember they do a good range of sizes as well. They also have some affordable leather jeans as well.

Hmmm, looking at some of those pages, I can pick up leathers for a lot cheaper than I first thought. Maybe I'll have a better look round for some leathers, and just stick to my normal jeans for pootling into work (although I love the hood jeans you can wear at work, but unfortunately they only do them in men's sizes).

Thanks for all your help guys.

Oh, and I won't be going for the chaps Smile

Plenty of retailers stock them, but you could always buy them online direct from https://www.dragginjeans.co.uk/

check out Hood.
https://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/

UK based (Norwich iirc) and better quality than Draggin imho.

I've got some Draggin Zip-offs, and they just don't fit right. when I spoke to Hood, looking for something specific, the guy apoligised they didn't do them, went off to check something while I was on the phone, then apoligised that they were short on Aramid (Kevlar is a brand name for Aramid) otherwise he could have made me up a pair.

Top service, and I'll be getting a pair from them soon.

It’s not just the size but the same of the person.

Me I am 6’2” with long legs due to also been a lardy and ex body builder my legs are also very big (my calf is the size of most peoples my heights’ thighs) so most knees are in the wrong place for me and also way to tight something I really hate. Top that off with long arms and a huge neck and it’s not that easy to find comfortable safe clothing of the peg and every one can afford to get stuff made to fit.

So it is a little more complicated but you need to strike a compromise between comfort and safety.

Alright the Draggin jeans are very well made as is everything that is made in AUSTRALIA oh yeah, I had to put that in!
they are very tough, come in a range of colours and styles and if you happen to have a light fall and just scuff a small area you can send them back and have them repaired for $35 Australian or what like about 10 pounds
I like the camo cargo jeans myself Cool
they sell for $200 Australian here in Bunbury Western Australia

I live in Melbourne Australia, so I guess Im lucky, I can go direct to the draggin outlet and buy them cheap! I have 3 pairs and love them, much better in our hot summer's than sweaty leather's!
