My lids seen a fair few miles, and as much as i'd like a new one or even a new visor its not happening quite yet..

Its so bad i ride with the visor up 99% of the time tbh, but the main problem is the anti scratch coating thats gone off yellow and is itsself covered in minor scratches.. underneeth its not too bad..

On a corner ive tryed a hairdryer, credit card, scouring pad e.t.c. nothing is moveing it easyly (without scratching the shart out of it)

Is there anything i can use to help it on its way? white sprit, nail polish remover? without damageing or makeing the plastic underneeth brittle...

Any ideas?

Hi

Not sure the coating can be removed like that.

What might be worth a try (try it on a corner first) is using toothpaste as a very mild abrassive to polish the visor. Think people use it for clear plastics on models.

Might be cheaper to buy a new visor though!

All the best

Keith

I'll give that a go...

I think the main thing is its so discoloured (uv maybe?) and exreeemly maingey, take that top layer off and its not atall bad..

I can appreciate they reeeeally dont want it to come off ever... i'm ure there must be soemthing that would at least losen it maybe.. i dunno...

Is there a chemist in the house? Shocked

(ive got sick of things hiting me in the eyes, so need the visor back in play for summer, otherwise i'll be fiting the helmet with a mossy net!)

Just buy a new one, after all the chemicals you have put on that one I wouldn't trust it to stop a big fat fly. Shocked

Well at the moment its stoping nothing because its left up, so if its not ok then its of no great significance, if it improves it then it'll do for another 6months..

At the moment other stuff takes priority, at worse i'll use my girlfriends lid which is actually in far better condition (seeing as it was only used for a year or so)

would a car bodypanel cutting compound be too harsh? You can get car colour restorer you rub on which is basically a cutting compound which you cut back with then seal with a coloured wax - just leave the wax part out.

Maybe give it a go with a drill mounted polishing mop?

When I took back and stained my les paul I put the lacquer on and it orange peeled from the cold so I cut that back with one of these and cutting compound which you can get from machine mart for not much atall:

It's only soft foam like what's in your seat but mine was bright blue.
