my mate has recenly decided his ped is nakered cus the variator weights are ded or somthing like that, so we've come up with the idea of bolting it to an old push bike, its an auto engine and tranny so i could swap the sprocket on the back wheel of the bike for a drivebelt thing, would it work ?
i can imagine that it would power wheelie like a nun on a ducati Razz

anyone know if its been done before ?

the ped's swing arm is too short. You'll need to use the end of the transmission to turn a sprocket which is chained to the rear wheel sprocket. Try and mount it as low-down as possible. You could alternatively just bolt the ped engine to the crank and have a single speed lol.

Oh, and it'd be less likely to wheelie, the increased (double) wheel size would increase the gear ratio.

lol welding another sprocket to the crank shaft of the push bike, then one to the crank shaft of the ped engine would enable you to use the bicycle gears lol! That would be utter bloody lunacy!

iv just realised how heave the engine is in comparison to the rest of the bike, the engine will ahve to go as close ot the middle of the bike as poss, and the petrol tank will have to counter balence it
i hope Shocked Laughing]

sure thing I've seen some funny things in my life time probably the best was this guy who mounted a chain saw onto his push bike or what looked like a chain saw and a very smoky engine assumed it was a 2t.

His variator rollers have gone so he's decided it's dead? Rolling Eyes They're a service item and cost £3 for a complete set.

A complete new variator is only £50 anyway.

Oh well have fun, personally I'd use a BMX frame and just have the scoot wheel on the back.

Dave Mirror ( or what ever his name is, you know that vert bmx rider ) stuck a engine on one of his bmxes and used it on a vert ramp ( them half tube things which you ride up and do tricks on ) and that was cool.

Just be carful, I nearly died after putting a 60cc racing tuned engine on a goped. I didnt put the engine in the center as it was a bodged job and ended up in A&E for 5 days with various broken bones. ( Estimated 50mph when I fell, lol )

As jonnay said it's only a couple of quid for new rollers and changing them is a doddle .

But if you have money to throw around like that i couldn't think of a better excuse to make a true wheelie machine Thumbs Up
