Looking around for insurance I am often asked am I a member of the MAG or the BMF , I say no cus I'm not , my question is this how does this affect your insurance? , does it go up or down.

In that I'm cynical in thinking that insurance companies think that if you are a member of one of these orgs then you are more likely to kick up a fuss when it comes to a claim/some bugger dings your bike.

Or perhaps it works the other way round in that they think you are a member and hence a more responsible rider.

Any ideas? are such memberships worth it considering I don't tend to go to shows (due to never being in the right location when these events are on).

Thanks

I would also like to know this, might be worth doing a quote with it ticked and with it not... see the actual difference on a premium...

If they ask the question it's likely they do offer a discount if you're a member.
THey don't all ask so far as I know.

Not all companies care at all about it.

Some however take it to mean that you take your biking seriously, and are able to offer you a discount on your insurance premium as a result.

However this is normally a minimal sum, i have been a member for 2 years now (BMF), cant say its realy made a noticeable difference to my insurance. The bikesafe i did however, realy good Thumbs Up

Some companies offer a discount to members of MAG, BMF & NABD. In turn, the organisations have various deals with the companies (advertising, promotion etc).

Cheers,

Byrnie.
