ok what do people wear on their bikes? coz i know in the winter people either dont ride or wear full protection, but at this time of year do most of you just wear jeans and a leather jacket? and when your goin out and need to take the bike do u still put the rihgt clothing on. i.e if u have the gym, or other hobbies etc, do u put the jeans on even if u need tracksuit bottoms when ur in the gym? do u just change when you get there?

Hi,

Well you will get someone for everything varying from full good quality leathers to pair of shorts.

I work on the basis that if someone can ride a bike they can work out the risk benefit basis of each type of attire and make there own choice.

Many will complain if you chose something different to them but I am a stong supporter of personal choice.

There are many threads on this on here if you search. But remember its not important what I do, you do what you want.

Regards
C
(jeans and textile jacket if its not too cold/raining else textile over trousers)

If it's just a trip down the road, I'll walk Smile

Full textiles, gloves, boots, helmet.

I've come off a pushbike in jeans on the road when I was 12 and I still bear the scars (Which were down to the bone, I might add).

Wave was wearing trackies when he came off and they melted on his legs. Not good.

I use my leather jacket with a lid and jeans, usually put trackies underneath them if it's gonna be a long ride seen as it does get abit nippy and we've all seen my trouser to sock ratio. Laughing And some worn out old bike boots, they do the job I suppose.

I will suit up properly everytime I go out, you just don't know what could happen and chances are it'll be that one time....

I mainly use the bike 2 get 2 college and back which doesnt take long on the bike and the maximum i go is 35 mph. Theres no place 2 put my gear when i get there so i end up wearing it thru lessons/ carrying it 2 lessons when im there so i just wear jeans and a leather jacket from topman now with my akito gloves then just carry my helmet (with gloves in it) around school.

Normally like that pic I put in the 'you and your bike' thread (leather jacket and jeans), only wear the leather trousers and alpinestars boots if going out of london.

lid, leather jacket, gloves and jeans. Big Doc Martens for boots. Thats my standard attire, bad weather means extra layers under the jacket.

Occasionally, especially when in sunnier climates, I would ride in lid, t-shirt, jeans, boots and gloves (always gloves, the idea of fingers on tarmac makes me cringe). Yeah, its not as safe, but sometimes abroad its just too hot (not like summer here, where it just isnt).... as in literally, not as in like 'oh I dont want to get sweaty'.

each to their own on this one I say, your choice of what gear to wear only affects your own safety after all. Of course, people should be properly informed when doing their tests of the consequences of riding in shorts and t-shirt.... but after that its on them

If I'm going out on a ride I'll wear a leather jacket and leather jeans, but other than that I'll wear a leather jacket, denim jeans, t shirt and my cheap motorcycle boots Mr. Green.

got a full leather 1 piece suit but i tend to wear leather jacket and the tuffest jeans i own unless im going out with the intention of riding like a twat. (not all that often) you can get armoured/reinforced jeans if you want to wear denim rather than leather or other textile gear, ive come off in some skater jeans sliding on my side/front down the tarmac at about 35- 40ish and they actually stood up very well my only injury beeing to my hand, down to luck rather than anything else though! if your gona ride like a loon then leather is the only option really, and a back protector which is next on my gear shopping list Thumbs Up

My grandad had to have his leg amputated when he was 17 after he slide down the road with not proper protection. He reckons he was doing about 50 at the time. Fair enough they probably didnt have doctors as good as compared to now, but I dont fancy going threw what he went threw.

I wear Leather Trousers, Textile jacket, Racing gloves, £800 helmet, Body armour and some alpine boots most of the time. But I do occasionally go out in trakies.

Im amazed how many people think they are protected in jeans, even if you wear them Draggin jeans it still ant gona do much when you highside and land on your knees.

Also A car hit me at a roundabout ( I was on the bike but she missed the bike and my knee hit the front of the car and my Arm hit the mirror ) and if I wasnt wearing my pads ect Im pretty sure I would of broken somthing, I had massive bruises and was acheing for days after that.

The way I see it is whats the point in falling off at 20mph and fucking yourself up when you could just get up and walk away ( And yes I do know that you can still die at 20mph with all the protection in the world )

Up untill last October it was just jeans and Jacket with boots under Jeans. Now however, even in 35 degree weather its

Leather RST pants

Sidi Boots

Hein Gericke Textile Jacket

Gloves obviously.

After taking the layers of skin off my hip and having scaffolding on it from when i got taken out by the copper last October, i always wear full gear, i need a leather Jacket for summer tho.

For dry weather I normally wear my textile jacket, gloves then a pair of jeans and trainers. When its wet or icy I wear the above plus my padded textile trousers and steel toe cap boots.
