went and got my divvy MOT'ed today, it failed on the front brake pads being too low, no major hassle to get them fixed. but what i am so fooking angry about is while i was getting it done the guy doing it found a screw in my front tyre. the new one i got fitted 5 days ago!
why is it that new tyres just attract screws?
it looks like it can be plugged but still a pain in the arse! does £25 sound about right for is to be plugged?
what suprised me was its not a MOT failure to have a screw in your tyre
can anyone beat five days?

I was quoted £15 for a tyre to be plugged - rear at that.
I had my 50cc passed at MOT with a drill bit penetrated through the top of the tyre, then back out through the sidewall. It went in with such a force it put a chip in the rim.
The guy passed it but told me to get it changed
| Quote: | its not a MOT failure to have a screw in your tyre |
See, now when i was working on cars, i helped with a few MoT's, and that was definately a fail. However, if the tyre was found to still hold correct pressure, and was deemed capable of displacing water still in the correct manner, and it had not caused any damage to the tyre, apart from the obvious, then it would be possible to let the car pass on an advisory... eg: "Your cars passed its MoT, but you want that tyre replacing ASAP" etc... ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... I got a puncture in a old tyre, managed to get the bike down the road a mile or so to get a new one fitted.
By the time I got home I had another puncture in the new tyre. |
