Attempting to run the bike on Red Diesel, or sticking WAY too much Redex in a nearly-empty tank could also possibly result in the above - both incredibly idiotic things to do mind...

Google's a wonderful tool ( https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=spark+plug+color&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official )

If it was running lean, there would be a powdery white deposit.

If it was running VERY lean there would be scorching over the ceramic part and the electrode would be all burned away like insects had been eating at it (if this is the case, it is probably doing exactly the same to the piston crown which will eventually lead to what is technically known as 'a hole'). Running very lean, dinnae ride it 'till it is sorted.

I have no idea what would cause a red deposit on a plug. Rust? Redex? Hermatite?!

Rust?

Indeed - if it's been run out of fuel (petrol tank), then it'll have pulled a lot of rust flakes etc thru from bottom of fuel tank... take it you have a decent fuel filter inline on yer fuel line?

It means your plug is knackered, its usually down to wear on the plug but this seems strange if the others are ok. Where they all brand new and put in at the same time?

You need to replace it anyway, it won't fire properly because the deposits are stopping the spark

Turns out there was allot off rust in the bottom off the carbs from the tank making the fuel go reddish and blocking the jets on that cylinder.

thanks for all your help guys. Thumbs Up
