Leathers hot too, mine are anyway, perhaps if they were vented.

I've got this breathable chain mail textile jacket, thats ace in warm weather. the air just gets sucked through it. Its big and heavy looking, but soon as your doing say 20, you can just feel the air going through it.

I've also got some Hein Gericke air vent pants, which I commute in when its silly heat. (don't know if i'd trust them at speed though, my commute is all in 30s).

Only down side, is that bugs get caught in it and i've got to vac em out.

My leather trousers arnt to hot at the moment, and it was pretty hot today. They costed me £195 and there the Spyke ones. Dunno if there any better for cooling down or if its just colder here though.

I got a really light dainese leather jacket which is really cool in summer. The leather looks as though it has those tiny holes all over the leather, and when you are moving, it really does feel that you are not even wearing a jacket, as you feel all the cool air running through it.. It has the hard shoulder, and elbow protectors, though it dos not have the back...protector built in. It is from their moto range..

Most cheap leathers tend to be made from poorer quality but thick leather. You need to spend quite a bit on sophisticated leathers before you'll feel the benefit of keeping cool.

A 1 piece is usually a lot cooler due to them being designed mainly for summer racing. Plus there's less bulk where they over-lap.

Thumbs Up

Bought a 2 piece Eurostyle (?) off Ebay for £25 last week !! turned out to be a damn good deal as they've hardly had any wear and are a cracking fit. I reckon leather is much better temp wise compared to the textiles they have Kevlar stretch panels round the groin, behind the knee and under the armpits which keeps your tackle and other bits at just the right temperature Mr. Green

Also it's easier to clean off the fly kill Wink

If you're wanting light and cool pants that will offer abrasion protection (but not impact protection) go for Draggin Jeans.

As far as jackets go, as mentioned Hein Gericke do some nice touring style jackets that are well vented, get to one of their stores and try some on.

Motorcross stuff generally isn't suitable for the road as it will fall apart in the event of a spill on tarmac, the padding/armour will not be of any help to you.

I use there cargo pants nearly all year round for comfort and there jacket once the temp starts to rise.

But it is a compromise comfort for safety there is no impact protection other than a back protector in the jacket but for city commuting it’s a compromise I am happy with.

I bought some Wolf leathers a few years back that had vents up and across the thighs and across the chest, they were the coolest (in terms of temperature) leathers I have had, to the point where they were a little chilly on a clear summer night.

These are the buggers:

Unfortunately, the shoulder armour velcro strip came away and I couldn't be arsed to glue it back on so I bought some Dainese instead.

Cheers

Grim
