Well , next few weeks should see me setting up to take my test (DAS) and i'm wondering what exactly the examiner will expect me of me , what roads i will travel on , how long it will last , things i will instantly fail on , what's a minor deduction & a major deduction .....

You get the idea .
Just let me know how your test went so i can get an idea Wink

Hey, my test lasted around 20-25 mins, You wont do all of what you have practiced, just over half. He wont tell you if you have passed or failed untill you are sat down looking like a dog waiting on some food Mr. Green

DONT get nervous, I thought I would be but I was so relaxed during the test I almost forgot it was a test Smile

IF, big if, You fuck something up dont think you have failed and stop trying your hardest. Keep going no matter what happens

To ride safe, and not do an 80mph fireball into the next lane and into a bus.

A lot of people seem to fail on the U-turn, foot down = fail. Other than that, life savers. The other majors and minors are probably common with the car practical test.

You have actually taken lessons and listened to what your examiner had told you I assume?

A large kick in the nuts, that's what failing feels like.

Except a tad worse since you have to pay to retest.

It's like that on my bandit, try revving it when putting it into neutral!

A good, solid and conservative ride.

Makaveli_Rydah wrote:

A nice mix of all types, from a 30mph residential area road to a 70mph dual carriage way. You're expected to know the speed limit for each of these. Going consitently too fast or too slow will earn you a fail.

Makaveli_Rydah wrote:

Roughly 40 minutes, give or take.

Makaveli_Rydah wrote:

Same thing, I'm afraid. A "Major" (aka. a "serious" or a "dangerous") mistake means an instant fail, unless the examiner is in a seriously good mood. It can include things like:
Arrow Putting your foot down during a u-turn
Arrow Messing up the emergency stop
Arrow Not letting pedestrians cross at a zebra crossing
Arrow Changing lanes without proper obervation

Makaveli_Rydah wrote:

Going over the speed limit slightly, wobbling a bit when you set off, going a bit too slow or too fast... any number of things, really. The difference between a "minor" and a "major" is that you can have several minor marks (12 or 15, I'm not too sure now) before you fail, but even a single "major" will fail you. Any minor, if repeated often enough (4 times or more, apparently), can count as a major. Notably, though, not following the instructors directions and missing a turn or similar will have no impact on your result (beyond potentially making the examiner less lenient).

I failed three times so far, and each time I was kicking myself for making stupid mistakes (have a look at my profile for more details). If you can do a u-turn and otherwise ride sensibly, it's no trouble at all. The test is not difficult, as such: it's just a short ride while someone happens to follow you. Your nerves can play tricks on you, though. Just remember that regardless of what you do, you haven't failed until the test is over, so don't give up half way through.

If my experience is anything to go by, you'll get a feeling of "what, that was it?" more than anything else out of it Wink.
