Well, in 4months im turning 16, and im going to get a 50cc.

I've been looking around abit, found a few bikes i like, a few scooters too.

Now, i know when im 16 the maximum speed i can do is 31mph, but im looking for a bike that will do 45-50+.

I preferably want an onroad/offroad crosser, but im finding it difficult to find one. My only other option is a scooter, but their useless on fields.

Can anybody suggest some decent onroad crossers that i could pickup for a grand or so second hand.

Thanks, KezzeR.

Ahh the new order of natural selection!

Not that I want to become known as one of the safety Nazis but do you not think that limit is there for a reason? It really is for your own safety, and 'ignoring' the law probably won't win many fans or compliments on here (so I've noticed over the last few weeks).

Its only for a year anyway, then from what I can understand you can step up to 125s that are far more capably of doing those speed (and you'll have a years worth of road sense as well).

I can see the need for the limit but then, I can also see me being a right pain in the arse on A roads if I was stuck at 30.

It's just slow and you just feel like you're poot'ling along so you don't really pay much attention. Least at 50+ you know you need to be more aware and also not holding people up.

I'd get run over at 30 on the ring road lol

How many 16 year olds need to do any significant amount of A-road work anyway?

I mean fast A-roads (60/70mph).

Surely the vast majority of 16 year olds commute from suburbs into another part of the same town? Not from town to town?

Dt 50 is good. To be honest most 50cc first bikes are very similar, almost all have the AM6 engine. Yamaha, Gilera, debri, rieju, motorhispania, aprilia to name just a few makers offroad 50 makers

derbi make there own engine and then gilera just use derbi bikes with the name on them, alot of parts on the gileras still say derbi (back of mirrors and on the engine cases)

get a supermoto style 50, derbi sm, gilera rcr, aprilia smx or peugeot xps are the better ones but dont be restricted to 30 its a waste of time i use to commute on my rs50 everyday down dual carriage ways would of taken hours if it was restriceted not to mention embarasing

I agree with on_one, go for a supermoto style 50 like one of the ones on_one has mentioned, they're pretty quick for a 50

I think the fastest derestricted 50cc you can get on the road will be about 60-65mph and thats not including the speedo being innacurate. Anyone that says theres does 90 etc etc need to be shot as they are probably reading the KM. Or they are a chav.
