how important is back armour?

just bought a joe rocket leather, i took out the lining and removed the side vents, it fits snug and feels comy other than the back armour, its easy removed but how important is the back plate in an accident? ive another 2 material jackets with full armour but they dont have any back plate in them?

Is it propper back armour or just a foam pad?

wow thats me told off!!! i know its important but just thought as its not on my other 2 jackets?? aye is a massive bulb shaped blue foam thingabout an inch or so thick!

Back protectors do nothing for the cervical spine (neck), which is the most vunerable part of a bikers spine. Helmets, by their mass loading effect, worsen the risk of this happening.

Ok put it this way mate,

Ive seen someone go down in front of me on the track, he was then ran over by another rider.

There is no dout that it was the back protector that saved him Thumbs Up

I for one will never ride without one.

If nothing else it's something extra between you and the tarmac, even if it's only foam any protection is better than none at all.

They don't call the material they make them out of comfort foam for nothing...

If your going to get a back protector you may aswell get a proper knox still one - if not then why bother?
